Nestof3
I realize many people don't like these texts, but if you do, the audio book narrator is just incredible. She does a fantastic job emphasizing, holding her audience and pausing.

justasque
We also love these on audio. I found that the cheapest was to get a membership to audible.com and download one every month. I now have all 10 volumes as .mp3 files, so I can put them on an ipod and play them in the car. It was well worth the investment as we've listened to each one several times. The reader is excellent and makes the story of our history very interesting. Even if you're not using them as a primary text, they are good car audio for family trips.

Donna T.
We love History of US but have never heard the audios. I didn't even know there were audios! The cassettes are $377.00 from Recorded Books. I hope my library has them! Edited June 26, 2011 by Donna T.

Donna T.
Wow! The .mp3's are significantly cheaper. I signed up for Audible.com. I have always intended to but never got around to it. But, I would LOVE to have these on mp3. My 6th grader read some of the books this year but didn't get to finish the series. He wants to but he just doesn't have the time to read all the books for now and he is headed back into the Ancient time-period next year. I think it would be great to just let him listen to the books that he didn't get the time to read last year. I am so glad you shared this info.! missmoe
Wow! Thanks for the tip. I'm always wondering how I can fit this series into our history rotation. I think I will go ahead and use these every morning for breakfast listening.

MistyMountain
I ILL the first 3 from the library a while back but then they could not find the fourth one. I am pretty sure it must be out there in some library so maybe I should try again. EmseB
Thanks for the tip on these, I have some Audible credits to burn. Although, I couldn't find them in the Audible store on my phone, I had to go to the Amazon website on my PC, so I'm not sure what that was about. Jackie
Can someone give me a quick take on what these are- religious (?) and who they are best suited to? I googled but want the low down. - U.S. History in a 10 volume set (some sets have an 11th book of resources) - Prehistory through the year 2000 - fully secular (religion discussed when pertinent to the history) - generally neutral politically, with bits that are slightly left-leaning - Written in a chatty, narrative voice - Aimed at middle grades
