  1. Michael Clay Thompson - I used Grammar Island for 3rd and 5th. Need to get Grammar Town for 4th and 6th.
  2. I struggle with this a little with Singapore b/c often I think using algebra would be much easier but having too many options has proven challenging for my daughter. The bar diagrams work with her brain. We will review this one along with equivalent ratios tomorrow.
  3. Thank you - very helpful and very reassuring. I felt like I was missing something.
  4. Yes I think that does help - thank you. With the picture both my daughter and I understand the answer but I wasn't sure how they knew to make the equivalent ratio 15:18 as opposed to something else. I am not sure we would have been able to do it without the picture. We are going to work on some more tomorrow. I really wish this level of Singapore had the Home Instructor Guider. Thanks again.
  5. Can anyone help me with this problem from the Singapore 6A STD textbook? There are errors in the answer guide and I am not sure I am understanding what I see in the textbook. I understand the answer but I can't figure out how to decide where to divide the units. PagIe 111 Exercise 4 # 7
  6. We are using IEW level 2 for 4th and 6th grade. I think if you have done it before, or most of it, it would be too repetitive. And fwiw, I haven't had to adapt any of the writing for my 4th grader so if you do use it I would look consider looking at level 3.
  7. With my youngest I used Miquon for about a year and a half and Singapore the entire time. If I had discovered Miquon earlier I may would have used it exclusively with her and then moved to Singapore.
  8. So far I am loving IEW. We are using Level 2 for my 4th and 6th grader and I think it is going to work out well. They are getting a little tired of writing key outlines but I think it is very good practice for them.
  9. This is what we did also. I loved those videos and I think using the rods really helped my younger daughter. I wish I had used them for my older daughter also.
  10. Sounds like a great option! I have checked out the book from the library but we didn't really get to it.
