Ferdie
I love, love, love my plastic storage containers and really don't want to give them up. I have a really bad habit of microwaving leftovers in them, which I know is really unhealthy. Can anyone recommend a brand of glass storage containers. I am hoping for something with a plastic lid since things get knocked around in our fridge. So far I have checked our local Target, Walmart and Costco with no luck. Thanks! Maverick
Anchor Hocking makes glass containers with plastic lids. I've seen them in large boxed sets at Walmart, Target, etc. There are also some on Overstock.com right now. http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Anchor-Hocking-36-piece-Storage-Bowl-Set/2906253/product.html We used to have some porcelein (sp?) bowls called "Grabbits" that were round with a handle and had plastic lids--they gradually broke over the years but I liked them--they were a convenient size for one serving of leftovers. Katrina
Here's the Anchor Hocking site where you can purchase the pieces singularly if you want. http://www.anchorhocking.com/prod_24_kitchen_storage.html
happygrrl
I love our Anchor Hocking set. The dishes are nice enough to serve from, so ours go straight form the table to the fridge. One less dish to wash!
Ferdie
Yeah! They are microwavable, too. Thanks, ladies!
melissel
We have these and these. I love them. The only real problem is that I'm paranoid about the bowls chipping from being stacked in my cabinet. So far, only one has developed a chip on the rim, but I try to be relatively careful with them. HTH!
Carol in Cal.
But I use canning jars a lot. They are transparent, they seal BETTER than Tupperware (but you have to take the lids off for the microwave), they stack, and they are very reasonably priced and sturdy. Frontier Mom
I found the Anchor Hocking bowls individually at Big Lots the other day for $5 each!! I only bought two but I think I will go back and get some more.
OnTheBrink
ebay frequently has "refrigerator sets". They're glass containers with glass lids. I think Pyrex makes them.
vettechmomof2
We use and love pyrex. THe ones with the blue lids.
Anne
I do like the Anchor Hocking bowls, but I have not yet found a source to get replacement lids, and for some reason we seem to trash our lids much faster than we break our bowls! :glare: So, I won't buy AH anymore, but will stick with Pyrex, which does sell replacement lids which I can find easily. Anne :iagree: I use the Pyrex for the lid reason too. My lids seem to wander into the sandbox while I'm not looking, then get chewed to bits by the dog. :001_huh: I try to buy an extra lid when I buy...just in case. LaxMom
I have both vintage Pyrex (glass lids) and newer Pyrex (with the blue plastic, vented lids). They both work well and I have chipped either (which are all stacked in the cabinet when not in use) in several years of use.

sweetfeet
We use the pyrex with the blue lids. I have some that are 5 years old and have never had any break or chip.
Mommyof4ks
We love love love the Pyrex ones with the red and blue lids. They come in many sizes and a couple of shapes. The lids are hard to get on and off, but they seal really well. The lids don't warp in the dishwasher either!
Ferdie
Update - I bought a set of Pyrex glass bowls at Sam's Club yesterday, and now I am wondering why I didn't do this a long time ago. I love, love, love these bowls! They are so versitle. I do a lot of food prep in the morning and I love having storage containers that double as serving bowls. Thanks, Ladies!! Next up - replace my plastic water bottle.
