How long do turkeys have to thaw?  Thanksgiving is still almost two weeks away, isn’t it?  
 

I have never cooked a turkey, which is kinda embarrassing to admit.

It's a bit early yet :)-about 1 day for every 4-5 pounds of bird.

 This is my recital week and then we're leaving next Sunday to spend the week with family, so I wanted to get Sid up for Thanksgiving, and I figured that was a tableau more than a few folks could relate to.

 

I've got big plans of doing a parade, but I think it's going to be a Christmas parade, not a Thanksgiving one.

No,but Sid's family won't be here Thanksgiving week to set him up :). 

 

Similarly, all my seasonal books are in the library this week.

The fresh ones probably aren’t even in the stores yet, or only just arriving. There should be plenty of opportunity to get one.

We are in our rental property with very limited freezer space.   We aren't moving to our new house until this coming weekend.   I won't be able to get one until Saturday or Sunday......so, we will see if any are left by then.   If not, off to Cracker Barrel it is!

On years that I cook one, I brine and thaw simultaneously, in a large cooler.

I buy a precooked small turkey and a ham every year. So far, they don't have them out. I checked on Friday to see the pricing and flavors (Cajun, deep fried, or plain, usually). I expect them to be out next week.
