Elizabeth86
If I baked potatoes ahead of time for dinner, can I keep them warm in a crock pot?
vonfirmath
How long do you want to keep them warM? WE make baked potatoes ahead and then warm them up one by one in the microwave to eat over time
regentrude
FWIW, cooked or baked potatoes keep hot for several hours in a normal pot wrapped in a comforter or newspaper plus woolen blanket. KungFuPanda
I bake them in the crockpot and let it hold them until we're ready to eat.

Sometimes I want them for dinner on a day we will be out of the house. So, I wanted to bake them in the morning, but have them at dinner. Mrs Tiggywinkle Again
My grandfather loved to take long hikes in his woods. He’d bake two potatoes in the morning, wrap in foil and then a kitchen towel, put them in his overcoat pocket and they’d be nice and warm when he dedcided to eat them. He’d usually put one in each pocket and they’d double as a hand warmer. 9

He was a homeless teenager during the depression, bouncing between relatives’ houses, and I believe baked potatoes(which grow pretty well here) were often used as a source of both food and heat. I might try it on my next hike myself lol.

lmrich
I used to that all the time. You can also put them in a cooler if you want to be fancy, put a brick in the oven or a ball of foil to add to your cooler.
Lady Marmalade
How long are you talking? Baked potatoes can sit at room temperature for 4 hours after baking. Make sure you get them up to 135 F before eating to ensure they are safe to eat- A microwave would be a fast and easy way to do that.

Yes, washed, pierced and laid on top of the meatloaf or roast or just cooked by themselves. If cooked on high, the parts touching the side will get a little over done, so I recommend cooking on low, or just eating around that spot
Lucy the Valiant
We cook ours in a 13 x 9 crock pot - wash, pierce, thin coat of olive oil + garlic, and YUM.

I have to either put them in at breakfast or lunch to have them ready for dinner. It depends on the size of the potato, but once a knife goes through just keep them warm. 1
busymama7
Does your oven have a timer? You could prep them before leaving and then have the oven come on at the appropriate time.
