Since then, all of the major auto insurers have offered some form of relief. And more discounts could be coming if millions of Americans continue to work from home and avoid non-essential travel Insurers have adopted different approaches to premium relief. For example, Allstate and Liberty Mutual granted 15% refunds on premiums for April and May, while Geico announced a 15% refund, but only as customers’ policies come up for renewal between April 8 and October 7, 2020. State Farm, the largest U.S. auto insurer, said customers can expect to receive a credit of about 25% on premiums paid from March 20 through May 31. USAA will provide a 20% credit on two months of premiums while Progressive and Farmers announced a 20% and 25% refund, respectively, for the month of April. marbel
State Farm is giving some rebates too, I think in the form of a credit against future premiums but I am not sure about the details. ETA: whoops, didn't read the whole post above and didn't see this already mentioned! Edited April 15, 2020 by marbel
Jean in Newcastle
My nonState Farm insurance is giving a refund. The local news said to email or ask on their social media account if your particular company isn’t offering a refund yet. Just to nudge them into doing it too! historically accurate
Geico says they will discount 15% at the next renewal. So since ours is up in July (every 6 months), so we should see a 15% decrease in the total due at that time.

Jean in Newcastle
Ours is 25% too. But apparently car accidents in my state are down 30% so they still win.
SKL
I got an email from my insurance co a couple weeks ago saying they are sending refunds. Odd but not unwelcome.

So, who knows. It might be because they are waiting for the state to approve the program. Mine says the same thing when I log in to my American family account but the agent says we’re definitely eligible...just waiting for paperwork to get finalized.
alisoncooks
Our insurance says that they are evaluating through April to determine what they do... (I'm not holding my breath, honestly.)
Amber in SJ
Sadly enough our 17yo dd got her drivers license 6 days before the county SIP order. Dh put her on the insurance to the tune of an additional $200/month, but we pay annually so he paid for the six months until our renewal all at once, and she has driven the car exactly 2 times since getting her license. Oh yeah that $30 back from Allstate for her part of April & May seem like a drop in a big stupid bucket. We’ve been dragging our feet with our girls, mostly because life was chaotic. One needed to renew her permit and reschedule her test, and the other needed to finally get her permit. We made plans to take care of that *days* before the DMV closed, and then everyone was out of luck.
