Funny conversation with a teen boy in the grocery store

I was near the dairy case with cheeses when a young man said, “Excuse me...my mom wants Parmesan cheese, but I don’t know...is that the stuff you shake out of a can?” I chuckled and said, “Well, usually that’s what people mean here when they say Parmesan.” I pointed him towards the correct item. Then, he says, 

“...Also, what is *light* mayonnaise?” I said, “Well, probabaly just looks like Mayo but will say ‘Light’ on it. Like lower calories.” Then - the funniest yet - he said, 

“And also, my mom said ‘chicken’. What does she mean?? Aren’t there lots of kinds of chicken?” 

Lol! “Yeah,” I replied, “there’s lots of things she might mean by that....does she often bring home the fully cooked rotisserie chickens? They do have those here. But she might mean pieces, raw. Or breaded patties. Or a whole, raw chicken. You might need to ask...” 

😂 I’m betting he just recently got his license and his mom was like, “awesome! Go get the groceries!” Poor thing had no idea...

I'm impressed that he asked!  My DH usually just Facetimes me and pans the camera across the aisle until I say, "Stop! Grab that right there. No, right *there*!"

Last week, I had him stop into Ulta on the way home. I texted him a pic of exactly what I wanted. He said he walked into the store and up to a sales associate, held up his phone and said "I need this." LOL. 😂

I can grumble about the dependence on cell phones like the grumpiest of old ladies but it is a lot easier to send my guys on errands now that I can tell them to just send me a picture of the shelves and I’ll tell them which one to get 🙂

I've done this at Auto Zone with a text from DH lol! It worked well 🙂

My BIL told me about a time when his wife had surgery and he went for the groceries. He said one thing on the list was “pumice.” He had no idea what that meant and thought it might be a spice. So he asked someone, while standing in the spice aisle. 😂 (It turned out she meant a stick for cleaning water stains from the toilet, though the person who helped him guessed she wanted the smooth-foot-callouses kind.)

LOL!  Reminds me of the commercial where the wife sends the husband to pick up "a bunch of asparagus" and he loads the whole cart with asparagus....

I basically have not sent my DH to the store since the one time I sent him for salmon and he came back with one salmon filet and two white fish filets and somehow thought I could magically cook all of that with the same recipe.  Sigh.

Awwwww, that's really adorable. 🙂 I'm mom-proud of him that he asked someone for help instead of standing there staring at shelves for an hour.

The opposite happened to me last week.  I asked for a "bunch" of asparagus.  Apparently it was not bunched at the store, you just took what you wanted and paid by the pound.  Dh brought 6 stalks.  6.  What am I supposed to do with 6 stalks?
