Night Elf
We're having a family Christmas today with my mom, stepdad and grandmother. I was going to bake a wonderful dessert but I just didn't feel like it so I bought a frozen pie and baked it yesterday. It's a Marie Callender pie so should be good.
hornblower
Good for you for just listening to yourself & making sure the holiday is fun for you too!You can do your other thing some other time..or not at all! I've kind of booked off from making anything. Dd has made a few things, I bought a few things, and we're calling it done.
marbel
I stopped considering that cheating a long time ago. Stores exist for a reason. :-) Hope it's good and you have a wonderful time.
ThisIsTheDay
Hey, those frozen Marie Callendar pies are the best! My husband homebakes pumpkin pie all of the time, but we do have several MC fruit pies in our freezer. It doesn't count as cheating if it tastes great!
Cinder
Agreeing with Day. We love the Marie Callendar pies. With a bit of ice cream or fresh whipped cream ... Nom! Edited December 23, 2017 by Cinder
ILiveInFlipFlops
Oh, I love Marie Callendar pies too! They're way better than anything I could bake (except for my pecan pie, if I may say so myself). That's actually my plan for Christmas Eve dessert, so I say that you shouldn't feel an ounce of guilt!
SparklyUnicorn
Her pies are good. I was extra lazy this year (I usually buy the frozen ones and bake them). Instead I bought the already baked store pies.
Annie G
That's not cheating, that's just plain smart. Prioritizing things that make your holiday happy is the way to go.
Night Elf
Good! Thanks! The pie was delicious. We ate half, then mom and I split the remainder so now I have a fourth of a pie left. That will be gone by tomorrow. I still need a dessert for Monday. I should suck it up and do those darn lemon bars. Maybe I'll be in the mood to bake tomorrow. G5052
LOL. Why not? We're joining friends for Christmas, and I said I'd bring two sides and a gluten-free dessert. I bought a gluten-free cookie mix that we've used before. There you go.
DawnM
I was supposed to make candies and ended up only making anything I could pour into a pan and making into BARS. And I always make cinn. rolls on Christmas morning, but I am considering ordering some.
El...
Those pies are delicious! And they are big, hefty, not skimpy like some store-bought pies. We had one once that was mixed berries with a crumb topping. Wonderful! I make my own Christmas pie, and in fact I'm going to do that in a few minutes, because the freezer section doesn't offer apple-cranberry. However, if they did, I'd buy it! ashfern
That's not cheating, that's smart! I was supposed to make cookies for the kids Sunday teachers but I ran out of time so just took store bought. Better to have something than nothing.
