solascriptura
If any of the hive has completed a change of address with the USPS, do you recall being charged $1.05? I'm so paranoid about identity theft these days and I don't recall doing this the last time. Anyone?
Samm
Yes I did. Our mailbox got run over, and I needed a temp place to send mail while we replaced it. It cost $1.00 but the good news is I got lots of Welcome To The Neighborhood type coupons in a welcome packet from USPS sent to the place mail is forwarded -- including 10% total purchase at Lowe's Home Improvement and higher % offs for places like Pottery Barn, Sears, Penney's. Um_2_4
Online, yes. To prove that it is you they charge to your card. I think that if you drop a card at the PO they don't charge.

That's interesting. I guess that makes sense. Okay, thanks everyone! I guess I'm not getting scammed. :) You never know these days.
Word Nerd
It's done online in lieu of a signature. If you fill out the paper form there isn't a charge.
Tess in the Burbs
Yes they charge to do it. But never an issue when done that way!
zoobie
It's to help stop someone else from forwarding your mail.
Reefgazer
Our post office only charges that when you do it online. Filling out a postcard at the post office, old school, is free.
HSMWB
The charge for the on-line has been years. Or at least the last two times I changed my address. I think in the office is free, but for me, the 1.05 to avoid the post office is no problem :-)

momto10blessings
I did not pay this, but I did it in person
SparklyUnicorn
Just on-line they charge. I'm too cheap so I go there and fill out the form.
J-rap
Yes. It's really just a security check, which is why it's such a small amount.
Paige
I went in person and filled out the form too after seeing the charge online. You still get the coupons and stuff if you do it in person.
