QuirkyKapers
Just want to let people know I watched this with my kids... they are older than 10...It was a great movie. A little different from the book, but it didn't take away anything.
plumshadow
I can wait to see it. I loved the book. Is it as much of a tear jerker?
Stacia
I loved the book & wondered about the movie. (I'm guessing I would need at least two whole boxes of tissues just for myself to get through the movie.)
Word Nerd
I agree. I saw it this weekend and thought it was good (and I dislike many if not most book adaptations).
QuirkyKapers
There were several parts that were tear jerkers...But it was worth it!
KungFuPanda
It's out?!? Must seeeeeeee!
phathui5
I don't see it on Netflix. Did you rent it?
QuirkyKapers
Yes, through Redbox
J-rap
I thought it was excellent. I also thought some of the actors should have been nominated for an academy award.
Kelly1730
This is on my list. I haven't read the book yet ( my "to read" pile just keeps getting bigger) but there are so few good movies that I'm tempted to put aside that self-made rule, just this time;) I saw it at our library as well as at Redbox. mom31257
We got it on dvd through Netflix. If you only have streaming, the dvd option is so worth it. We can get 2-3 discs a week if we are able to watch it and send it right back. It's only $8 more a month. We are going to do the 2 disc option this summer because it's only $4 more and we'll have much more time for watching things.
Saddlemomma
I don't see it on Netflix. Did you rent it? We got it from Netflix and watched it last night. It ended up being an introduction to WWII for DD 11 (which she'll learn about next year). She wasn't going to watch it with us, but got hooked when she walked into the room while it was on. We had to keep pausing it because of all her thoughtful questions. So totally worth it. We all loved it. I didn't read the book.
Lolly
Agree, it is truly excellent. I usually do not care for movies after I have read the book. This one was not the same as the book, yet held true enough. All changes were necessary for the change of format. I did not sob during the movie. I finished the book sitting on the bleachers at a swim meet with tears streaming down my face. The movie pulled a tear or two.
