Just Kate
If he loves Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and The Mysterious Benedict Society...what are some other books he might enjoy? Thanks!
mytwomonkeys
My 9 year old and I just read The Underland Chronicles. It's a five book series. It was very good. Even made me cry. :) He also loved The Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D'Lacey (has read it a few times actually) We are currently reading 39 Clues. We are only in Book 1. So far so good. Fablehaven is next on our list. Has your son read the other Rick Riordan books? Demigod diaries? Last Olympian series? etc. my son loved all of those too! mamaraby
More Rick Rordan for sure. There's the Greek and Roman which both include Percy Jackson, but there's also his Kane Chronicles inspired by Egyptian mythology. Redwall? Series of Unfortunate Events (shorter, but ds seems to enjoy them)? Tolkein might be too much of a stretch, but what about The Hobbit? LucyStoner
Heros of Olympus and the Kane Chronicles, also by Rick Riordan. Other fiction things my son has enjoyed at ages 9-10 (he just plowed through the Riordan books when he finally got over his bias against the genre): 20,000 Leagues under the Sea Treasure Island Time Machine War of the Worlds George's Secret Key to the Universe and the sequels Swiss Family Robinson Johnny Tremain Extra Credit and the various books by Andrew Clements Gregor the Overlander (also a series) A Wrinkle in Time series (which started again after realizing there were no more Riordan books out, lol) He is mostly a non-fiction reader though so I am always glad when he likes a fiction book. scrapbookbuzz
following because my 9yo ds loves those books, too. Has not yet read Harry Potter series, though. But both he and my 15yo dd like the Riordin books and The Mysterious Benedict Society.
LibraryLover
Artemis Fowl series, and pretty much anything by Eoin Colfer. http://www.eoincolfer.com/ Roal Dahl books as well.
Forget-Me-Not
Mine (almost 11 but loved the books in question) is currently reading Artemis Fowl. Well, actually, he's reading "Summer of the Monkeys", which I assigned as a requirement before I'll buy him the next Artemis book. He's trying to hide the fact that he's enjoying it. It is an assignment after all :p

Chris in VA
Oo, and he could probably get started on the Inkheart series. And the Susan Cooper books--um I think first one is Over Sea, Under Stone. Beautifully written--SWB's favs.
