WishboneDawn
Yikes. And I'm in Canada. Those roads look treacherous. Drivable if you have ice tires or studs but I'm betting no one down there even had snow tires.
ThatHomeschoolDad
At least the car in shot 23 looks toasty.
KungFuPanda
That's awful. I don't think there is a truly safe way to drive on ice. Of course, until this thread I'd never even heard of ice tires.

Of course, until this thread I'd never even heard of ice tires. They're a little softer then snow tires so that they're more flexible and sticky; they have better traction on the ice. Of course, you have to get them off right after winter or the heat well wear the treads off a lot faster then snow or all season tires. StaceyinLA
We had some major car pileups in Louisiana too. What was really strange was seeing the 19-mile long Atchafalaya Basin bridge completely empty.
Word Nerd
At least the car in shot 23 looks toasty. I wish the cutline for that photo had provided more details.
QueenCat
This is how the police handle getting around in the snow in the town we used to live in (Peachtree City, GA).

ravinlunachick
#19 makes me think I need to go stash a sleeping bag in my van. That guy was prepared, wasn't he?
