Christi/NC
I always get great new movies to watch when people ask this question. :-) My favorite is Amelie (French). I don't time to list all of my favs but I'll try to find the other thread that had some really good suggestions. I look forward to seeing all of the replies. Christi/NC
Found it! http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18953&highlight=foreign+movies Waking Ned Devine was repeated on the lists often--so good! Seducing Dr. Lewis--great! Children of Heaven--mentioned a lot. I did like it too. Once--was great--the language was rough, especially in the beginning--but the story was nice. Have fun! nakitty
By far one of the funniest foreign films I have ever seen is "Matando Cabos" I also loved "Amelie" ...and I love all the foreign martial arts movies...ESPECIALLY the really goofy poorly dubed ones...LOL But, in general....I judge a foreign film on how easily I can forget the fact that I am having to read all the dialogue...and my dh, who HATES having to "read a movie" really enjoyed "Matando Cabos" as well. :D

Hannah C. tibbyl
Here are a few foreign flicks we have viewed in past year or two: Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (about the apprehension and execution of Sophie Scholl and her comrades of the White Rose, a resistance group) Downfall (about Hitler's last 72 hours in his Berlin bunker) Strike (about female Polish shipyard worker who helped jumpstart the Solidarity movement)
Jenny in Atl
Yes, Life if Beautiful. I never noticed that I was reading the subtitles, I was so engrossed in the movie. This is the sign of a truly amazing film. When you stop "reading" and just absorb them. It's really quite magical.
