NotSoObvious
I'm getting friend requests from my 11-13 year old nieces and nephews. I have a...wide variety of friends and I can't expect my FB page or comments to always be appropriate for a 13 year old, let alone an 11 year old. Do you friend your young relatives?? I've been ignoring them...
Scarlett
I would. I do. You can add them as friends and select what they see.

somo_chickenlady
I'm friends with my 14 year old niece, but I'm not friends with any of my younger cousins who are on FB. My other niece and nephew are 18 and 20, so I don't worry about them.
Ottakee
Well, considering the public nature of facebook (even with privacy settings) I try to never post anything on facebook that could not go on the overhead in front of church on Sunday morning. That said, I try not to add a lot of kids to my facebook.
Arcadia
I only friend my legal age nephews and nieces. Some of my friends have polite political discussions on facebook, like about the fiscal cliff and the debt ceiling. I don't think that is what I want my 9 year old niece to read. skeeterbug
FB users have to be at least 13. So, younger than that is violating fb policies. The teens I know on fb aren't spending their time on my page! I assume they have parent permission so it is up to the parent to monitor their usage. If you are worried and can limit what they see (as a pp said, IDK how to do that), then that might be good.
Word Nerd
I created a Kids list and exclude that list from posts when necessary. It's not usually an issue.
Juniper
I am so glad dd's uncles and aunts accepted her requests. She has had the greatest time chatting with them, getting to know them, and connecting to members of the family that live a distance away. NotSoObvious
OK! I'm going to just friend them. I'll just trust their parents are monitoring things and understand what they are exposed to. I can help what my friends say in response to my photos or comments. (My dh and I hold very, very different beliefs than the rest of the family.) BarbecueMom
I have 21yo, 13yo, and 9yo brothers. They are all on Facebook. My dad monitors the younger boys' accounts and blocks people who let too much inappropriate content show up. I generally don't keep anything on my FB page that's beyond PG-rated. In other words, I have the 21yo blocked, but not the younger sibs.
QuirkyKapers
I would maybe check with the parents and make sure they are o.k. with them having facebook friends. I know someone whose dd did this and they had forbid her.
Scarlett
I had to take my 21 yo nephew off my feed because I got sick of seeing the profanity. I am going to let ds get fb when he is 13 in a few months. I think it s a great way to keep up with family and friends especially now that we have moved a few hours away.
