thescrappyhomeschooler
My friend pronounces the name of the Settlers of Catan differently than I do, so I just wondered which was more common. Thanks.
TXBeth
I voted other. Most people I know say cuh-TAN, but I usually say cuh-TAHN (rhymes with gone).
Mergath
I've never played it, but in my head I always say cuh-TAN.
TheReader
I say cuh-TAN, my dad pronounces it cuh-TAHN (like gone). I'm not sure which is right.
Cosmos
I voted other. Most people I know say cuh-TAN, but I usually say cuh-TAHN (rhymes with gone). Oh, whoops. I misvoted then. I voted cuh-TAN but I actually say cuh-TAHN. I have heard people say cuh-TAN now that I think about it, but it sounds wrong to me. I have never heard CAY-ten. ~*Beatrix*~
I have heard cuh-tahn and cuh-tan, emphasis on the last syllable.
besroma
I say cuh-TAHN, but I have always wondered about the correct pronunciation.

Mrs Mungo
I voted other. Most people I know say cuh-TAN, but I usually say cuh-TAHN (rhymes with gone). I agree. [eta: except, most people I know say cuh-tahn because they learned to play from me, lol] Listen to them say it in this video:
Joules
I usually say cuh-TAHN (rhymes with gone). :iagree:
thescrappyhomeschooler
I agree. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3WJTlDa7oo Man, Will Wheaton is such a nerd! Thanks for clearing that up. I say cuh-TAN, but my friend says CAY-ten. We have craft stores around here called Pat Catan's (pronounced cuh-TANS), so that's why I say it that way. Ellie
I voted other. Most people I know say cuh-TAN, but I usually say cuh-TAHN (rhymes with gone). This.
BigMamaBird
We have our friends over to play "Settlers" and avoid the issue altogether!
Georgiana Daniels
Catan rhymes with satan. LOL! Definitely heard it with the emphasis on second syllable.
Liz CA
Oh, whoops. I misvoted then. I voted cuh-TAN but I actually say cuh-TAHN. I have heard people say cuh-TAN now that I think about it, but it sounds wrong to me. I have never heard CAY-ten. Same here. If cuh-TAN ends with tan as in suntan, I should have voted other as in cuh-TAHN.
