BibleBeltCatholicMom
Nope, not your children. You, responsible, adult, maternal unit: are you afraid of the dark?
Element
Not at all now, but I was until just a few years ago (mid/late 20s!) :tongue_smilie: ETA: Sorry, I thought I was on the General Board. I usually just read here instead of posting since my kids are so young. Oh, well! Edited October 2, 2012 by Element
happyhomemaker
Depends on where I am. My bedroom- no. A dark alley- yes.

Jean in Newcastle
I'm afraid of the things that could go bump in the dark.
elegantlion
Depends on the house, but yes. I still use a nightlight. It is not the dark, it is what could be in the dark. ;)
regentrude
No. I love the dark in nature, with sounds and stars.
klmama
I'm only scared of the dark when I'm inside an unfamiliar building and the power goes out.
Pawz4me
Not at home. In hotel rooms and such I prefer to have a very low light, mainly because I don't have a well-built mental map of where every little thing is.
creekland
No. I love the dark in nature, with sounds and stars. :iagree: I love the dark both at home and when traveling to places like state and national parks. I would be more concerned in a city, but we seldom go to those. Even then, if our hotel has a balcony I love being outside after dark. I just won't go walking on unknown streets. southcarolinamom
I like to have a very low night light on, simply because we have indoor CATS!:D They roam in and out of bedrooms at night. If I can see them shortly after they pounce on me, I can prevent my heart from leaping into my throat!
Rebecca VA
I'm not afraid of things that might get me. What I'm afraid of is stumbling and falling. I stumble and fall very regularly, even when it's daylight outside. I'm absolutely filled with terror when it's dark.
BibleBeltCatholicMom
Like lion, it isn't the dark that I'm afraid of . . . it's what my imagination informs me may be lurking there!
Lizzie in Ma
The dark? No. What lives in it, hell yeah. :D
Mom-ninja.
Nope, not your children. You, responsible, adult, maternal unit: are you afraid of the dark? Yep. I force myself to walk through a darkened room but it's stressful. For the record, it's in our genetic code to be afraid of the dark. Once upon a time we had to worry about predators. Knowing that doesn't make me ashamed to admit I'm scared of the dark.
Nan in Mass
It depends where I am. If I am somewhere safe - no, not at all; I love the night-time. There are phosphorescence and stars and loons and other lovely things and it isn't generally totally dark. If I am not somewhere safe, then I don't like the dark and yes, I find it scary. There are many situations that are safer if one can SEE. Nan
