One Day At A Time
Good Luck! My mom had to bathe her cat not long ago due to a skin condition... She sedated him slightly and it seemed to do the trick. They both lived!
Jean in Newcastle
I would never survive approaching a non-comatose cat with a buzzer. The buzzer would make the claws come out. I would cut off what I could with scissors.

DusksAngel
Ask your vet for a mild sedative. I've seen cats go nuts when they hear that sound and fell something on themselves.
Pawz4me
Good luck! My cats are short-haired, but they both try to "help" when I'm grooming my Shih Tzu. So I really don't think they'd have a problem with me using the clipper on them.

jenn-
I hope you had good luck. Most pet sites don't recommend cutting a cat at home because their skin is very thin and cuts easily. I have to pay to get my cat cut about every 6 months. Sometimes they are successful without sedation, sometimes not.
Bensmom
If you haven't already trimmed kitty (or have attempted and have not yet bled to death), call your vet or groomer. Our vet tried trimming our cats mats with scissors and ended up cutting her skin pretty badly. She sedated her (needed to to repair the wound from the scissors anyway) and got her mats cared for without any stress. (This is a pretty laid back kitty and I would never try to buzz her.) I think the others posters are correct in saying that the noise and vibration from the clippers may be enough to put any cat into a frenzy. Good luck! catz
You're my hero! We used to have a cat that needed clipping and we always sent him to the groomer. They just loved him there (not!) Good luck! :grouphug::D

Dobela
Really?? Are you still alive??? Catnip sends my cats into some kind of hyperactive running insane thing. It doesn't calm them in the least... I think we might wanna see pictures, before, during, after...
Mommyfaithe
Welp....I survived!!! LOL. My kitty was unhappy....to say the least, And took off as soon as I let her go. I use the buzzer....and was careful not to cut her...and didn't. :D. She feels so much better...I was able to get the 2 major mats off her back without her looking terrible! Yay! Lizzie in Ma
Is it bad that I was happy it was your cat? I saw the title of your post and thought oh poor Faithe, what now? Hope all went well and you are unscathed. :D
