  1. Bowls for big dogs were always in the utility room because of the mess, but little dog's is in the kitchen (just more convenient for me).
  2. I think it mostly has to do with the location and the age of their equipment. I have used 2 different Walgreens and was very pleased with one and very dissappointed in the other. I've always had great luck with Walmart and have also gotten great prints from Shutterfly (if you don't mind waiting for them to be shipped). Shutterfly also sends out coupons and freebies on a pretty regular basis.
  3. I have the same concerns about the long term effects on my kids... We have much the same situation here (with DH's family). We are close to my family, and there are a few that we are close to in his family, but for the most part, I want nothing to do with my husband's family. It was not always that way, and unfortunately the kids can remember being around some of these people that we no longer associate with. We have given them the simplified version of why we no longer have a relationship with these people, but since DS and DD are still fairly young, they don't really "get it." I'm trying my best to protect my children (these are not good people) and maintain my sanity by distancing our lives from theirs, but I worry that the kids feel like I've taken something away from them. I just pray (frequently) that, when they are older, the kids will understand our motivation and see that the decisions that we made were what we felt had to be done for the good of our family.
  4. Boxelder bugs... They are attracted to houses during the winter where they will try to hide in small cracks and crevices to keep warm. They don't do any damage to the home, but if you step on them or smash them to kill them, they can stain floors or walls, so scoop them up and get rid of them.
  5. I had to put my knee in the seat and put my weight on it as I tightened it. It was the only way to get it tight enough.
  6. We just use them as a final worksheet for each lesson, so they work on them just like the workbook.
  7. This was a requirement for both of my kids in beginner lessons when they were 3-4 years old. It was explained that it is a safety issue... they want to train the kids to react in the right way should they fall, slip, or be pushed into the water. I'm actually surprised that it was not expected in the Level 1 class.
  8. I'm sorry that you're having to go through this ... I lost my 14 year old weim last September and it was a very difficult time for me. She had been a very healthy dog up until the last couple of years, but had develped several problems during the last few months. Our vet (that I adore as do all our animals) had always told me that I would know when it was time, but he said that he always gave the following advice... Choose your dog's three favorite things, whether it's chasing a ball, playing tug-o-war, eating, or whatever and when 2 of those three things are not possible anymore, then it's time to let them go. If you can find ways to make these things possible and the quality of life is still there, then I would support treatment (if you are able to reasonably afford it). If the quality of life cannot be maintained, then I would say that's it's time to let him go. Hopefully there will be a treatment that can help him for a while longer...
  9. Definitely the laptop! I love mine and prefer it much more than the desktop. I can't really find anything that the desktop can do that my laptop can't...:001_smile:
  10. We're in TN and have never had any problems. My kids are registered once a year with our umbrella school (one page form for each kid and very reasonable fees) and I submit grades twice a year. Other than that, they are just there if we need them... It's worked great for us!:001_smile:
  11. We've not used CLE, but we have loved MUS! My DD has struggled with math, but is doing so much better since we started using MUS!:001_smile:
  12. I have a major sugar addiction, but no alcoholism in my family... I have heard some great stories involving success overcoming the sugar cravings by taking all natural supplements to "balance" the body... May have to look into that a little more...:)
  13. Right there with ya!! :tongue_smilie:
  14. We painted (with epoxy paint) a portion of the tile in our bathroom several years ago and it's held up well. We just followed the instructions that came with the paint. This tile is on the walls, though, not the tub. I only know one person who has had their sink and tub done and it started to chip and flake off after the first few years.
