I searched and couldn't find a thread on 3rd grade so here it is! What are you doing this year for your third grader?

Bible- Lifepac 3

Math-TT4

Science-Apologia Astronomy (1/2 the year) and Botany (2nd half)

History- MOH II

Grammar- EG3

Reading- Sonlight list

Spelling- Sequential Spelling

Writing- Writing Strands

We are block scheduling so this won't be an everything every day sort of thing.

Bible- Veritas Bible Old Testament plus Adams Map of History and The David C. Cook Journey Through the Bible (we love this book)

Math- Singapore 3A/3B with Horizons 3 and some Calculadder and Xtramath.org (he loves those last two)

Science-Apologia Astronomy (maybe Zoology 1 in the next semester)

History- SOTW Vol. 3 with Biblioplan

Grammar- FLL 3 (although considering Shurley English) and throwing in some ILL, because we like it!

Reading- Sonlight list (us too) and some SOTW Vol. 3 selections

Spelling- All About Spelling

Writing- WWE 2/3 and IEW TWSS Units 1-3

Phonics- (just because he likes it): ETC books

For Handwriting we use Copywork books from Queen Homeschool and Spelling Wisdom from Simply Charlotte Mason.

We also try to incorporate (on Fridays) our Nature Study, art work for the week/projects, and our hymn study (we use Then Sings my Soul by Morgan).

oh journal writing, pen pals and Piano and Spanish (we do Spanish as a family though). Although we are considering Japanese. (We live in Japan).

Sometimes I feel like it is too much but we seem to work through it all, like you, do don't do everything everyday, except Bible and Math.

Horizons, CWP 2, Times Tales

Abeka Grammar and Creative Writing (my dd gets very creative with these!)

Sequential Spelling

Reason for Handwriting Finish T, start C soon

Rosetta Stone Spanish with verbal and written review with me

(Will be adding Mega Words soon to help with syllables and reading)

Together:

Apologia Zoology 1

Apologia Who is God?

SOTW 2 and read-alouds

Homeschool PE

Gymnastics

The only thing I really feel we are missing is art. Not sure where we are headed with that though. I'm thinking artpacs are the only thing that might get done.

Geography: BCP

Typing: not sure which program yet but we're pretty sure he has dysgraphia so we're going to try and get him typing before we do much in the way of composition.

Handwriting: Cursive curriculum from LOE for both kids (my youngest is starting kindy)

ETA: Extra: Lego building kits, I forget what they're called but he'll get a new one every 2 months I think or something like that.

He also does things like cub scouts, hip hop, baseball, and usually some other extra curricular. He wants to try karate so we might do that.

I don't believe for a second that we can fit all of this in. I've even added more since the last thread. I just can't figure out what I want to eliminate. :tongue_smilie: An added issue since moving is that they appear to take gymnastics more seriously here and practice three hours more per week, plus competitions fall and spring rather than just spring. :glare: I have plans for three children done, but this last child has stumped me.
