Jen500
He says they are pointless and too predictable. I really want him to enjoy reading and not be turned off. What are some quality, engaging books about the same reading level as any of the Magic Treehouse books?
go_go_gadget
You said you want suggestions on the same reading level as Magic Treehouse, but it sounds like he's really ready to advance. I think the Time Warp Trio books are probably on a slightly higher level, and might be a good bridge between MT and novels.

I have totally forgotten what my older kids read and we weren't homeschooling at that age.
boscopup
Check the grade 2 and grade 3 Sonlight readers. They are good, interesting books. I also agree that it sounds like MTH may be too low a level, based on his reaction.

rhrice3
What about all the Bulla books? They are all very good and exciting. Also, Encyclopedia Brown were entertaining as well. ReneeR
jenL
After MTH, my son went to the Boxcar Children books, the Bulla books, and the "I Survived" (the Titanic, Shark Attacks, etc) series. He also enjoyed the Dolphin Freedom and Dolphin Adventure books after MTH.

Doodle
I got a few of the Magic Tree House books for Doodle (age 7) and he didn't care for them either. He also has not been interested in the Time Warp Trio series. He did recently read Superfudge and enjoyed it. Another recent book he liked was The Littles. hellen
My 7 year old fell in love with Toys Go Out this week. He has already read it three times. There are two other books in the series but we won't get them until next week so I don't know if they are as good. Another idea would be some longer picture books. There are some really interesting titles. This week's favorites were Beautiful Warrior:Legend of the Nun's King Fu and Cocoa Ice.
