Stellalarella
It's February. The first daffodils are up--and as I just found out a moment ago, some are in bud. My son, my son that I love, plucked them and brought them to me to show me that they were about to bloom. It gave him so much joy to rip them and break them out from the plant, probably more joy than it would have given me to watch them blossom from the window. This is what I am telling myself. :001_smile: I am sure that someday I will be an old lady who will want children to come and pick all my daffodils. Do you know what I mean? Barbara H
That's sweet and I bet you'll remember it every year when your daffodils arrive.
Mothersweets
You're a good mama. What a sweet memory to have!
Mommyfaithe
I hope you put them in water. They will bloom indoors....and you might enjoy them even more than if they were outside. I have beautiful boys too:001_smile:
Cinder
That's so sweet! So much nicer than the little boy (not my own) who once thought it would be fun to come and pick all my not-yet-ripe tomatoes off the vines. :glare: (Yeah it was a long time ago, but I *still* remember that kid! He was not sweet. :P) Edited February 6, 2012 by Cinder clarity
MrsMe
Yes...every.single.time anything flowered, my dd would pick them and bring them in so I'd have a pot of stems and dirt. Sigh. I know they mean well, but ugh...I hear ya.
Happy
What a good mommy you are not to mulch the little guy. lol It is a good memory....he will get too big too soon. There will be daffs next spring.
OrganicAnn
We have a rule - One flower a day. That is all my DD is allowed to pick/pull up. She is older now and it isn't so much of a problem, but when she was little oh my.
SpecialClassical
Perhaps you and your son should read, Henry and Mudge In Puddle Trouble. It would be a subtle follow-up story.;) Your boy is obviously sweet and loves his mama!
GoVanGogh
That is why I plant flowers by the hundreds. :D Lots and lots of flowers to go around. Daffodils are so much nicer in a vase, I think, where you can look at their sunny faces all day instead of glancing at them through the window. Amber in SJ
I don't know if they grow out of it. I met Dh during an unusually warm January when he was 17 & I was 16. The day after our first date he surprised me at school with an armload of daffodils, all different kinds. Apparently he had denuded his mother's flower bed of anything blooming. I wonder why she didn't dislike me on the spot! Amber in SJ
ZooRho
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Or WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I had some beautiful day lillies at one house. Both boys at one time in their toddler hood days plucked every single flower, sort of the he loves me he loves me not fashion. both times it took years for them to bloom again. In the Rain
There is such a joy at seeing daffodils in bud. You almost can't blame him. Almost! ;) If they are far enough along, they'll open up in a vase of water.
MamaT
That is so sweet. My boys are all big now, but I have fond memories of them bringing me flowers out of the yard. :001_smile:
mcconnellboys
Put them in water and enjoy them! If your nights get too cold they will die on the stem, anyway....
