KristenR
Okay- I'm searching on Amazon. I want to get my girls some cute but not overly expensive ballerina dress and shoes. I would like to get one in pink and one in green if possible. I don't want something "real" (read expensive) but I don't want something of a cheap quality that will tear and rip (you know, like those cheap princess dresses you can pick up for $10.) Anyone have any recommendations? I was looking at Danskin online but they just have leotards and black skirts. My girls are young and frilly and colorful is where they are... BigMamaBird
We get our dd her dance clothes from Target. They're fairly inexpensive and have held up very well. She's only 6 and it isn't like she's a hard core dancer, she's not too rough on them. But they would definitely hold up to in home dress up play. NicAnn
Ditto Target. You can find some great ones online. Search for ballet wear, or cheap ballerina clothes. http://www.discountdance.com/index.php
KungFuPanda
Look at pay less for the shoes. Try to catch a BOGO sale.
katnorman
We get our dance stuff at dancewearsolutions.com. They are fairly inexpensive and have good brands. I would recommend Bloch ballet shoes and leotards.
Michelle My Bell
I bought a really nice quality leotard for my daughter from a resale shop. It looked new and probably was quite expensive when new. I bought her new tights. You should look on etsy for ballet skirts. They would actually be quite easy to make out of chiffon. BigMamaBird
Also, have you ever seen one of these? Super easy to make, no sew. You can do any color combo you want. You get rolls of 5 inch wide tule at Hobby Lobby pretty inexpensively. http://www.skiptomylou.org/2011/11/01/no-sew-tutu-tutorial/
chiguirre
Target and WalMart carry dancewear that's good enough for classes. Pink's easy to find, green will be a challenge. Payless shoes are okay, but you can get regular Bloch shoes for about $15 at discountdance. You could look at Craigslist or ebay to see if you can find old recital dresses. happypamama
For their age, Payless's ballet slippers will probably be fine, both for play and for class. They held up well for DD for several years; now she uses Bloch, which are a bit pricier but better for her slightly wider feet. For the costumes, how about leotards (discountdance.com or amazon) and tutus? If you sew at all, tutus for play are not too difficult, and when my DD was the same ages as your DD, her tutu was her favorite thing. :) (Wait, tutus still ARE her favorite things!) AdventureMoms
Even if you don't really sew, tutus are very easy. You can get the 6" tulle just about anywhere (amazon has it, so does my local joanns and walmart). It would cost about $6 to make two tutus using this tutorial: http://www.momdot.com/howtomakeatutu A tutu and a leotard (target if you can't find one used!) would make a great "ballerina costume". TechWife
Target has dresses & ballet shoes in their girls section. It's real stuff, but it's not super expensive like Danskin.

Cera
I usually order dance stuff from discountdance.com. The stuff they sell is either real (capezio, danskin, etc) or their own (which is good quality) and the prices are great. They actually appear to have a few things in green available right now (the inventory can be hit or miss).
