Sharpies! Oh, glorious Sharpie markers!

Recommended Posts

Dh just bought me this pack of Sharpie markers and I am in :001_wub:

I love school supplies and sharpies and colorful things and what better way to pull it all together. :D

Of course, now I can't think of a single thing to do with all these glorious colors of Sharpies. I know I'm not the only one here who loves school supplies, so tell me ladies, what wonderful things can I do with my new markers?

I have a similar set. I hide them. They have to be checked out. No one lays a hand on my Sharpies!:lol::lol:

That's how I am with mine. I joke with the kids that touching my Sharpies is punishable by death. :D They still try though. :glare: And they have all kinds of other markers--a thin set, a thick set, and wonderfully delicious scented markers! :001_wub: And still they try to get their grubby little hands on my Sharpies. :boxing_smiley:

Sorry I don't have a lot of great suggestions. Maybe a nice hand-made poster with grammar or spelling rules? A nice big times table with different colors?

Sign your kids up for a swim team. Then you can use them to write on your kids. That's what I do w/ mine! (swim mom's will understand this)

Y'all are cracking me up but somehow I'm left feeling like there's really not much use for these, is there? :001_huh:

I do like the idea of the schedule in the page protector but I'm not sure that's worth the cost of the Sharpies.

Yes, I do use them to label CDs but I don't have any to label right now.

Nooooooooo. I may have to return these... but they're so pretty! :nopity:

I organize my diaper bag by putting things in different gallon size Ziplock bags, and then I label them with Sharpies. I even have an empty one labled "Yuck!" for holding surprise problems. I do the same labeled bags with a lot of my homeschooling supplies, too. A bag for crayons, markers, etc. And my toy drawers have colored labels with shapes so the kids know exactly where things belong.

I have a couple of those sets and need to buy more. Art Projects for Kids has a few great art projects for those...which is why I need to buy more.

We did these so far.

Delauney

Mandalas

They came out wonderful.

ETA: If you use the search box on her website, you get several pages of ideas that use Sharpie markers for at least part of the project. Often, it is just for outlining part of the picture, but some of the projects are done completely with Sharpie

Wow. Thanks for sharing this website. I love some of the stuff she has... and not just the Sharpie ideas. ;)

I just bought a set of Sharpies, too!!!!! I am using them with some composition notebooks that we bought from Staples that are black and white with different designs on them. They will color them in to make pretty journals!

I saw some notebooks, folders, boxes etc with black and white designs on them made for Sharpies to color on? I couldn't find them online, but while I was searching, I did find this:

SO COOL!

I'm with Jenny: language flashcards. Just think of the categories you can make with all those colors. Not just noun = blue, verb = red. You can distinguish genders, delineate irregulars, and segregate declensions. Imagine the linguistic possibilities!

*fans self*

From a less academic standpoint, they're also good for labeling food in the freezer. The downside to this, if your husband is anything like mine, is that you'll often find food labeled in rebus form, made-up phonetic languages, or something resembling hieroglyphics. And THAT is why I hide my Sharpies.
