Jean in Newcastle
I'm specifically wondering about grocery stores and Barnes and Noble. I googled our local stores but all the sites give are their regular hours, not if they are closed for holidays or have holiday hours. luvnlattes
Yes to grocery stores. I was at a couple yesterday and they had signs posted that they were open normal hours today. I can't say for sure about Barnes and Noble but I know the mall is open.

MariannNOVA
Costco is not open here and neither is Sherwin Williams Paint Store - but they will be open tomorrow (SW) which is good b/c I think I have almost decided on a color for the kitchen.;) Since they are not open, I am taking down the Christmas decorations and soaking black eyed peas. Gretchen in NJ
Costco isn't. :glare: :hurray: Sorry, I am old enough to remember the good old days when there were days when stores and gas stations were closed. People perpared in advance and spent more time relaxing with family.

I found this out after I braved the icy roads for my weekly shopping trip. Walmart & the mall were open, though.

Jean in Newcastle
Yeah, me too. A Very Wise friend of Jean's recommended that she relax today, IIRC. :-) :p I've gone through all the mail and bills, I've cleaned the kitchen, and now I'm going out to do grocery shopping and for some relaxing book browsing at Barnes and Noble. People perpared in advance and spent more time relaxing with family. Me too. I did my shopping, filled the car, was all ready to spend the day at home with DH and DD. The DH offered brunch out at a restaurant. I said "they're closed." He said "call and see". Everyone was open. And the mall we drove past had a packed parking lot. Even the tire store is open. So much for a day with the family. He's off fixing a car tire, DD wants Wonder Pets, and I'm here with y'all. Off to do laundry...

sleepymommy
Might be a little late on this thread now, but Barnes and Noble, Michael's, Toys-R-Us and Target were all open today along with the grocery stores. I've been sick all week and was itching to get out today, I think I went to every store that was open!:tongue_smilie:

Jean in Newcastle
Do you just wake up in the mornings feeling industrious? No, I wake up in the mornings feeling achy and tired. But I am well compared to the last two months. Got to make hay while the sun shines! Just to satisfy all of you who wanted me to relax - we got to B & N and no farther. We spent 2 hours browsing in there! Very relaxing. I did, however, get some books that we needed for school so I still get to cross something off of my list.;)
