  1. Recently had to leave a church that we had been actively involved in. It was difficult to do but at the same time what was right for us. I slowly let go of my obligations there. And quietly left, sharing with my closest friends there only. The pastor did try laying a guilt trip and questioned my moral judgment for making my decisions. Don't be surprised if people cut you out of their lives from the church. It is hurtful. Give it time and some will come around and others not so much. There are some who will refuse to acknowledge your presence if you see them around town. And you will find those rare friends who are true and that is a gift. They are truly brothers and sisters in faith. I do not regret making the change in our lives. It has enriched our lives in so many ways. However with growth sometimes comes tears.
  2. So sorry for your loss. I loss my husband 19 months ago very unexpectedly. Leaving me with a houseful of kids. I have continued to homeschool. It was one of those things which provided a bit of normal for the kids and I. The first holidays and the things we use to do, I tried to keep the same for that first year. Now I am keeping some the same but starting new traditions and such. The first months are like a fog and you just go through the motions. It is a rough ride and it was difficult but each of children had to grieve in their own way. We are finally finding our new normal and peace. :grouphug:
  3. I've had 5 c-sections with no issues related to the surgery. I remember being a bit more nervous with the last one for some reason. But the dr told me I could have more if I chose
  4. She did an excellent job of protecting her child. Her 911 call backs her in many ways. Very smart of her. Years ago when I was pregnant and had a toddler had a scary experience. While bathing the toddler there was a loud crash as someone kicked in the first door. Whoever it was knew someone had to be there since it could only be locked from the inside. There was one more door to get through. I didn't have a gun in the home but did yell and made a dash across the house for the phone, while pretending to already be loudly reporting it. It did scare the intruder(s) away. And if I'd had a gun would have done the same if they had preceded in the next door.

  8. Thank you Jenny in Florida for starting this discussion. Having much the same difficulty with my ds14 lately. And I've been struggling alot trying to decide what to do. I know alot has to do with DH passing away almost a year ago. SailorMom and Ester Maria I got alot out of your posts. Thank you so much for sharing and giving me alot to think about. I have noticed with ds that if I back off and give to much freedom in his school work it's never a good thing.
  9. Through the years they have been wrong about most of my childrens expected weight. They freak out and tell me the baby is going to be small about 5lbs or 5.5 at most. Each time they are speechless when I delivered a 7-8 lb baby. During one they were sure the fluid was low and that there would be issues. For weeks I was scared as they performed ultrasound after ultrasound. Saying the same things. The worry was for nothing.
  10. Just wanted to say that I have had multiple c-sections and one vbac. I had a long recovery from my vbac, lots of complications. After my first c-section the recovery period was much shorter with the others. Tips would be just pace yourself. Let things go a bit. Take breaks often. Make up a some meals in advance. Simple meals are best. Take out can be good too. Ask for help from family and friends. You can't do it all. Just enjoy those first few weeks with that baby. Housework will always be there. Our babies grow up too quickly. Get some special movies, books and/or games for ds. That way when baby is napping you can spend some quality one on one time with ds.
  11. Wouldn't bother me in the least. But I would have a discussion with my son about listening in class. How it is rude to continue to talk when you've been warned. How we should listen when others speak just as we want them to listen to us. It is a waste of time and steals valuable instruction time from others.
  12. I've been leaning towards this program as well. Don't have anything to add but will be watching the thread.
  13. I would recommend either vinegar or OdoBan to get rid of animal smells.
  14. I recently purchased a foreclosed home. It was the perfect home for our family. I did request a 10 day inspection period. It was left vacant during the middle of the winter. Had concerns about the plumbing. Well there was 2 pipes which had to be replaced and a toilet. Really blessed and not that expensive of a repair. It did make me sad for the family who had worked so hard on the home. I can see they loved it dearly. I truly pray they find a new home to meet their needs.
