Julie in CA
I have Folgers Classic Decaf. {Sigh} Don't tell me something else would be better, 'cause this time I've got to just go with what's on hand. How many tablespoons of coffee do I need to put in my Mr. Coffee machine to go with the 12 cups of water??
lionfamily1999
We have a scoop :p from what I remember, though, it's a teaspoon per cup of water.... I think. Really though, Folgers decaf...... I don't think it'll matter too much if you don't get the measurment right  Sorry, I couldn't help it. skirch
Hmmm, I use a scoop and a half. No idea how much that is. Here's a chart though! http://www.blackbearcoffee.com/Brewing%20Ratio%20Charts.htm
skirch
Looking at that chart though, that seems like a lot!

Do you have *any idea* how hard it is for a perfectionist (like me) to let go of the idea that I should be serving better coffee than this?? :tongue_smilie:
Quiver0f10
Looking at that chart though, that seems like a lot! I agree. I make 12 cups and would say I use a little less than 2/3 cup grounds. I can't imagine 1.5 cups grounds as the charts lists!
teeleigh2000
I think my scoop is 2 tablespoons and I use 2 scoops in a 4-cup pot. So for 12 cups would guess 6 scoops for a total Of 12 tablespoons. Hth...
Pam L in Mid Tenn
I use a rounded half tablespoon per cup. Some people who like really strong coffee will put 2 table spoons per cup. That is just nasty. I've never had anyone complain about my coffee. I think a half tablespoon per cup should be agreeable to most coffee drinkers. Truscifi
I use a heaping tablespoon per 2 cups of water, but I have a good coffee pot. See it isn't just about the coffee, it is also about the pot! No added pressure, though!!!!:lol::lol:

Ellie
Mr. Ellie, who is meticulous about his coffee, says that "1 cup" actually equals 6 ounces, not 8. He uses 1 scoop (which is about 1 TBS) of coffee per 1 cup of water (1 cup being 6 ounces). He uses Folgers, and a Hamilton Beach Brewmaster; people rave about his coffee, including people who say they don't like Folgers.:D

I use this amount both for grounds and for beans to be ground. I have a cheap coffeemaker, but grind my beans each pot. I've found over the years that this works nicely for me. I get compliments on my coffee. I use Eight O'Clock mostly, but shop where there's a high turnaround. Is this helping, or are you more confused than ever now? :tongue_smilie:
Julie in CA
Not hard enough :D Bill Well, surely the special dessert layout will make up for the coffee? :001_huh: Coconut cheesecake with bittersweet chocolate ganache Strawberry swirl cheesecake made with home-grown berries Flourless chocolate cake with chocolate ganache glaze Peanut butter chocolate mousse cake Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting homemade english toffee freshly whipped cream for those who might want to add it to...whatever... What if I set out some things to add to the coffee? Kahlua? Irish Cream? Frangelico? Rum? Bourbon? Brandy? Do people ever add such things? :bigear:

Also, there are some nice flavored creamers for people who don't drink. And dh and I occasionally make our own 'flavored coffee' by adding half a cinnamon stick or vanilla bean to the grounds while they brew. Really though, most people who want coffee are satisfied with whatever you have.

Blessed with seven
We have Maxwell House in the fridge and it says 8 tbs per 10 cup, we have a 12 cup and I put 10 heaping tablespoons, it was quite strong but we like it a little strong, the heaping I think made it a bit much

That dessert list has my mouth watering. Some of the fresh whipped cream in the coffee (and kahlua) would be lovely, too.
