Linda in NM
we had to put our elderly border collie down this morning--she was unable to recover from the coyote attack (I HATE coyotes)--in our front yard--and had severe kidney failure and blood poisoning... Linda in NM
Thanks--I'm just grateful that we had the chance to not prolong her suffering...I watched my mother die of kidney failure last year (complications from diabetes), and it was not easy...thank God, too, for hospice for humans... Linda in NM
Well, my son is ok--he's the one who picked her out when he was not quite two...so she's been around for a long time. We're taking an easy day (followed, of course, by hockey). Thanks for asking.
Mrs. Readsalot
Hi Linda, I am so sorry for your lose. It is difficult enough to lose a beloved pet, but to lose one in such a tragic way...my heart goes out to you.
Sharon in SC
Oh, Linda. I am so sorry. We had to put our beloved Jeremiah (15yo yellow lab) down a few years back and the void he left behind was immeasureable. From that respect, I truly do understand your pain. Since that time, we rescued a Border Collie who has stolen our hearts. Dh, who felt Jeremiah's loss more than anyone, talks of the day when Lady goes and how he just doesn't know how he'll be able to go through the loss. Meanwhile, just this week we've learned that our area has coyotes. We have Lady and a poodle and I *really* hate to think about that particular wildlife in our neck of the woods because of them.... I guess I just share all that to say that my heart hurts for your family today. I pray an extra measure of peace and comfort for your home! HootOwl
I'm so sorry, Linda. We just adopted a border collie in December, and we all love her. They are wonderful, smart dogs, and I know you're going to miss yours. Blessings,
Linda in NM
Thank you, Sharon--and be careful--the coyotes attacked our poor old lady not 50 feet from our door (we live in a rural area; we were outside with the dogs, and they were roaming around a bit...) kjprice
I'm so sorry to hear this. We just got a new puppy a month ago and he has already stolen our hearts. I can't imagine how you feel right now.
Robin in Tx
Linda, I am so sorry. Coyotes got two of our cats, and I'm telling you... I thought about sitting outside with a shotgun and baiting them. Instead, we moved. I HATE Coyotes, too. I'm so sorry about your poor, precious pet. Much love to you and your family... lollie010
Just a few months ago I was in a similar position after our beagle died. Everyone on this board was such a help to me. I hope that you are comforted in some way. So sorry for your loss. Laurel T.
