Mom22ns
I bought this to use over the summer and we just couldn't get into it. I got Mapping the World with Art at the same time though and it has been the biggest hit of my school year. I am definitely an Ellen fan too! Old Dominion Heather
That is great to hear about the mapping. I have one kid who would be in heaven if I got that one for him. How much time do you spend on it each week? Matryoshka
I just started the Elements with my younger dd. She is loving it! It is getting done! I am happy!
ourjourneys
We loved chemistry with the elements too! It was great fun for all of us :)
Mom22ns
My dd is doing it 3x week. The days range from 20-40 minutes. Once in awhile there are too many good activities in a week and I just can't narrow it down enough and we add a fourth day (about 30 min). This dd hates geography and thinks this is the best program ever. It is her favorite part of the day most of the time - amazing!!
dovrar
When the kiddos get older her Cells curriculum is excellent as well.
Staceyshoe
We did The Elements and Carbon Chemistry last year. It was such a HUGE hit (for a hard-to-fit kid) that this year we are doing Cells and The Brain. She needs to hurry and come out with more, or I'll have some big decisions to make for science next year. Truly love her style--so fun and kid-friendly yet doesn't sacrifice one bit of depth. Momling
We're big fans here too! We've done Excavating English, Cells and now Botany (free). Soon we'll try the human body worksheets and the Brain unit. Next year we'll give the elements and Carbon Chemistry a try.
Sharpie
Thank you for your review as I'm seriously considering adding several of her items to our curriculum next year. So good to hear others who love it! It makes my decision easier. :)
serendipitous journey
... thanks for this good news! We are having a hard time fitting science time in this year, and I want something "meaty" for Button ... if you have a chance to come back and post after using a bit, I'd love to hear how you are scheduling/doing it. Julie Smith
The link in the OP didn't work for me. This one does work. (In case I wasn't the only one) http://www.ellenjmchenry.com/
OrdinaryTime
I worked through most of The Elements with my eldest last spring. It was the highlight of his year. The humor was right up his alley. He still talks about the Atomic Chef. Plus he truly learned quite a bit. The story of Mendelev and the creation of the periodic table intrigued him into looking at scientific biographies and planted a little spark of inspiration into his mind about how scientists think and work. I coukdn't have been more pleased with it.
cschnee
Just an aside, GEMS Learning about Learning is an excellent program beside McHenry's The Brain.
