klmama
I know someone was describing how they go through sentences to label every word for part of speech instead of using diagrams. Which grammar programs cover parts of speech this way? TIA!
Pam H
Shurley Grammar does this. :001_smile:
hsmom
GUM doesn't use diagrams. It goes through just the parts of speech throughout the sentences.
nmoira
Michael Clay Thompson does this not only for parts of speech, but also parts of the sentence, phrases and clauses.

Suzanne in ABQ
We do both. Ds uses Rod & Staff (4). It focuses on diagramming. I've found, though, that going through and labeling each word in the sentence first makes the diagramming a piece of cake. After labeling, he knows exactly how to set up his diagram, and then simply plugs in the words. He actually enjoys doing it this way. To answer your question, though, Easy Grammar only uses labeling. Susan in Central Texas
CW does a sort of charting which points out the action of each of the words in a sentence, but it also diagrams later. Rod and Staff continually addresses identifying the parts of speech and has a cycling written and oral review, but it also consistently diagrams.
