Susan in TN
So I go to the grocery store today to pick up a carton of Rice Dream, and What do I find right next to it? Coconut Milk! It's very tasty, and I'm not a big fan of coconut, generally. Ooh, I'm so hoping I can get my whole family to drink it! I bought vanilla, but now I wish I'd gotten the plain kind too, for cooking. Quad Shot Academy
I love it too! It is so much better than the canned stuff!
cshell
Have you all tried a baby (young) coconut..? They are so good! You can punch a hole & put a straw in for your kiddos to drink this summer. After they have enjoyed the coconut milk...use the "meat" for a smoothie! What a fun treat!!!:001_smile:
Mom0012
Did you know the same company makes a coconut yogurt? My kids love it. Lisa
5knights3maidens
I have been buying coconut milk for my dd. I love it. The unsweetened is just that. Not as good but still good for baking. I also buy the coconut "yogurt"...it is $2.00 a small yogurt container!!! :tongue_smilie:
JeneralMom
Where do you get it? I have never seen it here and cannot find it for sale online. Maybe I should call Whole Foods?

OnTheBrink
Did you know the same company makes a coconut yogurt? My kids love it. Lisa We love it here, too. The plain is so good and naturally sweet that I plop some into a bowl, pour Kashi U cereal over it and eat it for breakfast! YUM.
lighthouseacademy
The ice cream is yummy too... I really really liked the mango passion one made with the coconut milk. The mint chip one was good too. The vanilla was meh- it had a slight coconut hint to it and since I think of Haagen Daz vanilla flavor as my fall-back for flavor comparison, it didn't measure up. Quad Shot Academy
I haven't tried the yogurt yet. The icecream is wonderful too, but it has agave in it and I have developed an allergy to it. Look in the refrigerated section for the milk next to the soy milks. Several stores by me carry it. If Whole Foods doesn't have it, ask them to special order it. nono
Young coconut before the meat is formed? has been used for IV fluid... the perfect formula.... and of course for just drinking :) :) Yes, and that is called coconut water. It's nature's Gatorade. Great for runners in the summer. Definitely different than coconut milk. Which would not be so good for runners in the summer. :tongue_smilie:
mommaduck
Oh goodness...my brother and I used to fight over the milk everytime a coconut was opened. I'm the only person in my house though that likes it now.
Susan in TN
Where do you get it? I have never seen it here and cannot find it for sale online. Maybe I should call Whole Foods? I found it at Kroger - a regional chain grocery store - in the refrigerated natural foods section. It runs $3.59/half gallon - which is comparable to Rice Dream and others. Certainly cheaper than buying the cans. I'm definitely going to call them and see if they do/will carry the yogurt. Or, maybe I'll bite the bullet and start making my own yogurt again - but this time with the coconut milk!
