  1. Well of course! Good grief I know everyone can do what they want. I gave the looker a heads up I am not paying realtors fee at this price.
  2. Yes I understand what is standard. And yes I understand that people who insist on using a realtor might not want to even look at my house.. But the comment above was that the seller would have no choice. Yes. I do have a choice. At the price this house is currently there is no room for realtors fees. Thus the ‘make me move’ designation. My boss buys and sells A LOT of property. He doesn’t use realtors. The last piece of property he sold he had a bottom line price and a buyer had their realtor all involved and so realtors fees had to be tacked on to the bottom line price. I have bought and sold 2 houses without a realtor. It is not difficult at all. I am not sure why anyone is so intimidated by the process.
  3. Wow, that is a lot of big news for y’all. Will your dd be going far away? I am very jealous of the Caribbean vacation! Enjoy!
  4. I liked this paragraph What’s more likely, he thinks, is that the American system will come to resemble real estate markets in Australia or England, where sellers and buyers each pay their own broker – or don’t. After all, buyers are usually “cash-strapped,” Hahn noted: saving every nickel for a down payment, closing costs and moving expenses. While the entrenched interests in the American real estate industry will argue that’s not consumer-friendly, Hahn says he’s “never seen a study that says buyers get screwed” without representation.
  5. He did not come yesterday. He texted me on Saturday and said he was having trouble getting out of AK due to weather. Yesterday afternoon he said he did make it to the nearby city finally but was exhausted and asked if he could look at it today instead.
  6. I am still trying to figure out what kind of scam you think he could be pulling. The house is on Zillow with a ‘make me move’ price so that is how he saw it and contacted me. You think it is fishy people come from out of state to look at a house to buy? I didnt tell him he couldn’t use a realtor. I told him he didn’t need one and I am not paying for one. As far as buying without a realtor obviously some people don’t feel comfortable without one but the fact is realtors don’t have some special power to determine which house is a money pit. If a person doesn’t know much about these things a home inspector can be hired for $300.
  7. How can a seller be forced to pay a realtor that they didn’t sign a contract with?
  8. I read most of the thread. It seems to me there have always been quirky people.....and those people get support they need and they thrive or they don’t and they flounder. @Garga your post was AMAZING for all its details. Wow. Just wow. I think many of us have known someone like your father and many times have not dealt well with them. Thank you so much for sharing that. We have close friends who have a mid 20s son on the spectrum. I would definitely say high functioning. He holds down a good drafting job. But he still lives with his parents and I suspect he might always. His diagnosis allowed his father to understand him in way that he didn’t before. The dad feels bad for how he treated his son in younger years.. now life is better. Everyone knows this young man needs clear instructions and that he does t read social cues. My own son sometimes makes me wonder that he might be on the spectrum. He is smart but quirky. Often socially awkward. I have no intention of pushing for a diagnosis....I do help him work on his social skills. So I think we should treat each person as a human being and when they need more intervention and help, get it for them.
  9. Yes!!!! I have been reading along and I have so much to say about all of this, but THIS is what I wish too.
  10. So well said. I despise the concept that God causes bad things to happen. We live in a messed up world but he isn’t going around saying,’oh I think Quill could handle a baby dying or Night Elf an autistic child’. Just ugh. Time and unforeseen occurrences befall us all. Some are more difficult to get through than others. I think all parents struggle when life is difficult for their kids.
  11. We had a HOA once. It was worthless. The neighborhood stayed nice overall, but one guy did obnoxious stuff and did not like being told he couldn't.
  12. I don't think a realtor has more knowledge about what is on the market. It is all on line. As far as their knowledge and experience.....some have it and some don't. The bank and abstract office will handle it.
  13. True, but that will be between him and his agent.
  14. We still just have it flagged on Zillow 'make me move'. This guy contacts me from AK and says he will be here Saturday evening and wants to look at it Sunday. This time I was VERY up front about the fact that it is not really for sale unless someone wants to pay that price which does not account for realtors fees. He first said he would contact his realtor.....I said, 'you don't need a realtor.' He said, 'oh that is great!'. LOL Do people really not realize they don't need realtors? I was also very up front that it is still not completely finished (needs flooring in main area and it needs a kitchen) and the price reflects that. So I don't think I could have been any more clear. We shall see.
  15. Smile and wave. It is her own grief. But so so inappropriate and unkind. Even if they had been close a marriage is completely different. Just try to view it as her own insecurities. And if it bothers you so much certainly limit contact with her.
  16. We just got an 8k counter depth kitchenaid 26 cf fridge. It is very nice.... it counter depth takes some getting use to.
  17. The only good thing is they have 100% medical coverage.
  18. I really dont know if she could get Xanax or klonopin from her pcp. Tramodol works well....yes the appoint half hour away is a pain once a month. Just ridiculous. The appointment is comical. What is your pain level? I don’t have any pain. Oh? No. I take 2 pills a day ( and she has for years) for my restless leg. Ok, thank you see you in a month.
  19. Calories alone won't tell the story. I can feel fine with that many calories but they have to be high fat, high protein calories. Also when my energy level plummets it is my Vit D levels. Usually around February it is the worst.
