Be warned paypal DC is useless in a dispute
kamom replied to Quiver0f10's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I guess it's a matter of perspective. I did a similar deal this week and thought it was worth it. My other option was giving the books to friends, trying to sell them for about a dollar each at a lawn sale, or donating them. Used books just don't bring much profit. I would rather have 12.00 left to put toward my next purchase. BTW, one book shouldn't take 10.00 to send priority. Wouldn't it fit into a 4.95 Priority envelope? The books I sold for 25.00 plus $4 shiiping, total 29.00 didn't fit into an envelope, so I had to pay more. If it's one book I often use the priority envelopes. IMO I don't think you have to use insurance with priority. I never had one lost. Also, you can order priority packaging free online. They will bring it right to your door. So that saves you the cost of packaging and the trip to the post office. I have a whole stash on hand. You don't have to weigh anything to get your total, just pick the right priority package size, print it off, tape it on and take it to the mail box. If I have a large box, I put it in a plastic bag and hang it over the mailbox flag. I never had a package I sent lost or unaccounted for.:tongue_smilie: Hope I don't eat my words this week. I just shipped out more. -
Problems buying and selling?

I agree that people on here have their stuff listed to high. If I can't give about 50% less, I buy new. I think people are expecting to get to much for their used books. -
Be warned paypal DC is useless in a dispute

Just a thought for those selling online. I have been both buying and selling online for about 10 years. I have never had a package that I sent lost or missing. On the other hand I have had about five purchases that never made it to me. In all but one, the cost was reimbursed to me, the buyer. I always use priority mail. Those who are having problems might want to consider this instead of having to buy insurance. But maybe the cost would come to the same price. -

I've filed a claim with paypal for an item I didn't get and had them repay me. Edited: Oops. Didn't pay close enough attention.(blush) -

Problems buying and selling?
kamom replied to SorrelZG's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I do this all the time. lovelaughs, Maybe try again with the abeka. It usually sells for me. Try to generalize in the options that ebay has for you to fill in and instead give a bold, lengthly description inside?/ under the picture. I usually use colored script and am very specific. HTH -
Problems buying and selling?
kamom replied to SorrelZG's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I tried selling books on here for months on end. The first or second day I listed them on ebay they started selling with 'buy now'. Only two made it to the end of the auction. The first to go were Writing Strands 2&3 which I had on here for a long time with no bites. I had the same experience last year. Didn't sell here then it sold on ebay. To save on shipping and save trips to the post office I stuff things into priority envelopes and print off labels through paypal or USPS site. I recommend ebay. simple. fast. efficient. -
:grouphug: I didn't notice any unanswered questions. Maybe you should bump them up.

Free Viewing of Burzynski Movie
kamom replied to TracyR's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thanks for sharing that! Were there actually trials done using the right protocol? Who knows. I have a great hope that this will someday be the cure! I just found out a cousin's husband was "helped" by this Dr. He did get better while doing the treatments. But later relapsed and didn't pursue furthur treatment. -
If TOG was free, would you use it in the younger years? Why Not?

Is a 10 yo boy still a "little" boy?
kamom replied to smilesonly's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My 10 yr old boy is turning eleven next week and getting his first BB gun for a gift :001_unsure::w00t:. Little boys don't get guns as gifts from their dad's. No way can I call him my little boy. He's only about 70 lbs but quite mature for his age, if I do say so myself. Can't believe how fast he's growing up. I was just changing his diaper! :001_huh: What happened all of a sudden I have a young man. It does help that I have a real little boy 1 yrs old, that I can hug and kiss and hold and cuddle and squish all I want. -
I should not have voted. I voted yes, but after reading this thread, I'm not sure. My two older children are both very bright. For years I have gone back and forth wondering if they were gifted or just accelerated because we taught them to read early. They both learned to read at four and learned two languages as they learned to speak. ( a small bit of the third). For years I believed that they were normal just smart because we stimulated their minds so much. I love learning and interacting with babies and kids. Talking to them a lot and telling them all about life. I still don't know. Now I wonder are most kids that learn to read early way ahead of peers? I think one of mine might be gifted and the other one very bright. They are both ahead in school.

To reaffirm what has been said, it does teach you how to make healthier food choices. DH has lost around 50 lbs with WW and he tried calorie counting for many years. He would lose and then gain it again. This has taught him a lot about good nutrition and helped keep the weight off. He plans on being a life long WWer. To help with the program. It gets easier the longer you use it.You don't have to add all the info unless you can't find the food in their program. If you can't find it, you can add it once and add it favorites so next time it has all the info there for you. You can also make a snack combo that you often eat and save it as a favorite. Next time just add it with one click. HTH

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Hope you find a sweet fellowship that you can really connect with. Good, true friends are hard to find. Don't overlook those much older or younger then you. I have a very sweet older woman who is probably my best friend in our church and she is about my mom's age! God brought us together and she is like a mom to me. We live very far from both my parents and in laws, so it's very precious that we have her. Look around their are many lonely people out there. People who need a friend like you!

Tell me the best pencil sharpener, please
kamom replied to love2read's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We use a manual heavy duty wall-mount Exacto. We used one very heavily for about 4 yrs before getting a new one. The old one still sharpens, but it turns very hard. I give it five stars! -
My almost 11 and 10 yrold have been doing it on and off for about two years? 20 minutes a day, 3-4 days a week. They don't go to the next level until they have a certain percentage reached. They are not even in the second level yet. We gave about 200? for two levels. It has been very worth while. They know a lot of French already.

:grouphug::grouphug: I will pray you can find peace. Infertility has been one of my lifes greatest struggles so I know the pain of wanting more children. May God's grace rest upon you. He cares for you and understands any and all pain we go through. -
where do you keep your dirty laundry?
kamom replied to mykdsmomy's topic in General Education Discussion Board
One dark hamper and one white hamper in the main bathroom. Everyone takes their dirty clothes and puts the lights/whites in one hamper and their darks in the other, including dry towels. On wash day I dump the light/white hamper into the large front loader to wash. I sort the jeans and really dirty darks out of the other hamper and have another two loads. I only wish I had started this years ago. Hardly any sorting dirty clothes. -
Ok..how in the world so little laundry
kamom replied to choirfarm's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I think it makes a huge difference what size your family members are. With three large men in your family, and an almost tenyr old, eleven yr old and a baby in mine, of course I'll have less laundry then you though we both have five in our family. The baby makes a lot of laudry though, sometimes three changes a day, still not close to a grown guy changing three times a day. IMO clothes worn to church for an evening are not 'dirty'. If you shower before you put them on and sit for the evening, unless you're very sweaty those clothes get hung up here and reworn the next day or the next church service.
