  1. I'm right there with you! My eating has spun out of control. And by spun out of control, I mean I started eating like regular people. Sigh. A favorite low-carb treat of mine is cheese and guacamole. I cook a thin layer of cheese in a pan and put the guac on top, then fold it in half like a taco. Also, lots of chicken! Sometimes I shred mine and cover it with taco seasoning and a little cheese.
  2. Oh, my heart goes out to you! I really, really hope you get it. What a tremendous relief that would be! The burden of bills on top of just trying to heal is enormous. Medical bills just suck! My dd still needs to declare bankruptcy for her husband's medical bills that accumulated during his last months.
  3. Oh, my crapness. GACK! I would totally have hurt feelings. Then again, everyone tells me I'm too sensitive.... That said, because it's someone you thought was a close friend, it's better to talk and get it out in the open, if for no other reason than to see where you stand in your friendship. I do agree with PrincessMommy---wait until after they come back so it doesn't look like you're fishing for an invitation. I'm sorry that happened. It really does suck.
  4. No one said at word at the resort! I think they probably know people won't sign up for the excursions if they give those kinds of warnings ahead of time. You've never SEEN anyone slather on the bug spray the way I did  I'm trying to remember what the virus warnings were...dengue and something else.
  5. I'm sorry to say that it WOULD affect my travel plans. I'm a squeamish hypochondriac. Then again, you might miss out on something wonderful. When we went to Cancun in Dec., zika wasn't a thing (at least not that anyone mentioned) but there were other NASTY viruses spread by mosquitoes and the warnings were severe. Anyhoo, no one told us that until we were on the bus ready to depart for Chichen Itza. Had I known ahead of time, I would not have signed up for the excursion. But guess what? It was a WONDERFUL experience that I wouldn't trade for anything.
  6. It totally stinks to lose something this way!!! On our Alaska trip, we had some extra time and the TSA dude walked me back out and directed me to a mailbox where I could mail the ulu knife to myself. Then I went back through the line---sans sharp object.
  7. I've regretted emails also! Keep in mind he may not have been checking emails on Memorial Day. People are out hiking and having barbecues, and maybe even if he saw it, he delayed responding because he was busy and wanted to take time to answer nicely. Is this a competitive team or a rec team? If it's a tournament and a competitive team, then he was probably playing the kids he thought best in that particular situation against that particular team. If it's a rec team, then there was no excuse to have your son sit out under any circumstance. The whole "when to talk to a coach thing" is so tricky! I've had some very bad outcomes with coaches whose inflated egos really couldn't handle a few simple questions. I've also talked to coaches who handle questions superbly! I'd say, if it's one or two times, don't say anything, but if there's a pattern over time then it's good to speak up.
  8. LOL! I know, right? I honestly can't explain the butter knife.
  9. Sigh. I'm one of those people who holds up the line. It's not that I don't know the rules...it's that I don't think about the fact that what I'm carrying is a sharp object. Last month coming home from Alaska, I had a gift box containing an ulu knife, before that I had a small pair of knitting scissors, and once I had a butter knife. I really don't know how the butter knife got into my purse....
  10. I love hearing success stories---congratulations :D
  11. Exactly! It's not hard to know what to do because the info is so available and proven out over the years, but actually DOING it is so, so hard. At least for me. Knowing the right thing to do and finding/making the time to do it are totally different things. Ugh. I guess I need the inspiration too.
  12. Cool! The first step is always the scariest :D
  13. Sounds like such a great opportunity for her! (Even though snakes make me squeamish, lol!) I always wanted to be on Family Feud, so I could clap, jump up and down, and yell, "Good answer!" even when the answer was dumb. HAHA!
  14. I think this makes all the difference.
  15. Omgoodness....I feel like I'm constantly running and never quite catching up. I blogged about it today because I wanted to see if I really am as busy as I feel like I am. The answer is yes, LOL! I always felt like a slacker because my hubby works 12-14 hours a day, and during the summer he works 6 days a week. Compared to that, who wouldn't feel like a slacker? But once I itemized where all my time is spent, I realized I work a lot. I make a big contribution. And the things I devote my time to really matter. As hs'ing SAHMs, if we stop doing what we do for a few days, the truth will prove itself :) That said, there is a difference between working hard and working a lot/staying busy contributing. I don't necessarily feel like the work I do here is hard, per se, but that's a separate issue.
  16. Good point, Tara! Even so, I've heard soo many different people/organizations say how FB advertising isn't even worth it anymore. It's become their least profitable way to advertise.
  17. They let you like any page you want, but whenever the Southern Baptists for Modest Dress post, it only reaches a fraction of the people who liked the page. BUT...I think FB's algorithms do it to ALL liked pages, not just conservative ones. I've heard it across the board. Realistically, not everything a person has liked can show in a newsfeed because there's just too much info going out. At least that's my understanding. (But now that we're on the subject, it makes me wonder if the algorithms are different for conservative pages....hmmmm.....)
  18. Filtering my liked pages makes me more angry than the trending topics.
  19. I'm pretty conservative, but seriously don't care, LOL! FB is not my go-to news source. I already figure that most places in the media are going to lean a little left, even though that assumption might not be accurate. But when stories like this come out, I'm not surprised.
  20. Can you do modified/shorty days? Or take a few field trips? Or...just stop? What's the worst that can happen if you declare summer break? (We live in a state with no reporting, so your situation may be totally different.) I don't think it gets any easier, in fact, it's getting harder for us. Plus, some years are just better than others.
  21. Agreeing with Lanny---don't try to self-diagnose or pre-guess. I KNOW it's hard---btdt. But no matter what you guess, it probably isn't that, lol. I had the stress test and was on there for a while, but it took ages for my heartrate to come back down. Naturally I panicked. Do you know what it was indicative of? Nothing. At least nothing that mattered. Try to be at peace while you wait :)
  22. I just use my regular card. A few years back, I tracked every penny so multiple shipments would bother me, but now I've become a little lax.
  23. That reminds me...I need to go cash out my points and get my Amazon GC!
  24. Definitely get it checked out! Best case, you get relief from knowing everything is OK. But if everything isn't OK, it's better to know as soon as possible. In the meantime, do try to hydrate and cut alcohol and caffeine since those can be positive steps, regardless. Whenever I have a racing heart, it's usually one of those factors.
  25. Good gravy, no! The thought of crumbs...and subsequently bugs...in my bed makes me squeamish. But coffee is a go. Coffee is a go anywhere.
