  1. Yes, go to that website and you will find lots of info. We moved in with my in-laws last year b/c my MIL has Az and FIL is 91 y.o. My BIL is a builder, so he added a nice apartment off their 1960's ranch house. We live in the original house, and they have a cozy place where we can just walk through the laundry room and help where needed. I imagine it is much bigger than what they would have at a retirement village. Not everyone can do this, but it has worked great for us. My dh has 3 other siblings close by, so we all take care of different aspects of their care. Before I go to sleep tonight I will pray for guidance for your situations. God bless you!
  2. I use my cast iron skillet on my glass cooktop all the time. Guess I should get out the owner's manual.
  3. Hope she can get some reconstruction done after the surgery :001_smile: !
  4. So sorry to hear of your sad news :grouphug:
  5. No, I have not personlly played many video games, and I certainly believe in fun and games, especially doing them as a family. But from what I've observed, video games mostly involve two people sitting side by side, not making eye contact at all, and not talking or discussing anything. (I'm not talking about Wii sports, which I guess isn't considered a video game???) I also don't believe people watching a show or movie together is a great way to get to know the other person. It's just a way to hang out, so to speak. I guess I wrote that b/c I think we may have many fathers whose only father/son time together is playing video games together instead of talking and learning about life one on one. And I am NOT saying this is what the OP's dh does; I don't even know him! I'm sure there are many threads about video games!
  6. I'm sorry I have to really disagree here! Or maybe you were just kidding :001_smile: ? (And it is funny for me to even be replying to this quote b/c I have neither boys nor video games!) From what I've seen, when two people are playing a video game there is close to zero meaningful interaction going on.
  7. for Magic Eraser--it doesn't have any chemicals at all--it's just puffed pumice, I think. I use it to erase just about everything! But don't get the kind that have cleaners in them.
  8. You can go to www.webmd.com and type in "meningitis". You'll get lots of info. One of my girls has no spleen due to ITP, so she had the vaccine.
  9. There isn't a blockage in the actual toilet. The inlet holes (under the bowl's rim where the new water comes in) are prone to clog up due to the hard water. If only a small amount of water comes in during a flush it isn't enough force for the toilet to work correctly. I know we could get a water softener, but I really don't like the taste of softened water. Any suggestions?
  10. Nutshell--our house has well water which is very hard. The main bath has a toilet which is 30+ years old. The holes must be blocked with sediment b/c the toilet won't do a complete flush (sorta just spins around for a while and only half goes down, yuck and TMI, I know ) My DH used a metal coat hanger the other day to unplug as much of the deposits as possible, but it's still not flushing well. Have you had this problem? Did you eventually just get a new toilet? Or did you keep after the hard water deposits? What's the trick? I don't have time to put another chore (clean out toilet holes) on my schedule, yet I am big on doing whatever I can to keep stuff (big old toilet) out of land fill if it's not necessary. ETA: I'm talking about the little holes under the rim that allow clean water into the bowl to flush.
  11. Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Columbus is the capital of Ohio. There's Montgomery, Alabama, south of Helena, Montana then there's Denver, Colorado, on to Boise, Idaho. Texas has Austin then we go north, to Massachusetts--Boston and Albany, New York. Tallahassee, Florida andWashington, D.C., Santa Fe, New Mexico and Nashville, Tennessee. Elvis used to hang out there a lot, you know Trenton's in New Jersey, north of Jefferson, Missouri, You’ve got Richmond in Virginia, South Dakota has Pierre, Harrisburg's in Pennsylvania and Augusta's up in Maine, and here is Providence, Rhode Island next to Dover, Delaware. Concord, New Hampshire, just a quick jaunt, to Montpelier, which is up in Vermont, Hartford's in Connecticut so pretty in the fall, and Kansas has Topeka Minnesota has St. Paul. Juneau's in Alaska and there's Lincoln in Nebraska and it's Raleigh out in North Carolina, and then, there's Madison Wisconsin and Olympia in Washington, Phoenix, Arizona and Lansing, Michigan. Here's Honolulu, Hawaii's a joy Jackson, Mississippi and Springfield, Illinois, South Carolina with Columbia down the way, and Annapolis in Maryland on Chesapeake Bay, They have wonderful clam chowder. Cheyenne is in Wyoming and perhaps you make your home in Salt Lake City out in Utah where the buffalo roam. Atlanta's down in Georgia and there's Bismarck North Dakota, and you can live in Frankfurt in your ol’ Kentucky home. Salem in Oregon, from there we join, Little Rock in Arkansas, Iowa's got Des Moines Sacramento, California, Oklahoma and its City, Charleston, West Virginia and Nevada--Carson City. That's all the capitals, there are!
  12. Try to let it go. It doesn't matter what this man thinks of your son. It is better to be gracious than to be right. Sounds like your son was both. "A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense." Proverbs 19:11
  13. Of course if you're just going to mash the beans to make your own refried beans (pintos) it doesn't matter how soft they get. Add a little garlic and salt. . .yum! But I agree, beans cooked to mush consistency are just not good! I use my pressure cooker every week to make brown rice: 1 c. of H2O in the bottom, then the metal rack, 2 c. of rice in a stainless steel bowl with 3 c. of chicken broth or water in the bowl, too. Cook under pressure for 10 minutes and then allow it to lose pressure before opening. Works every time. Don't they sell plastic bag liners for crock pots? Something similar to those turkey bags? I imagine they are expensive.
  14. My DH and I have tickets for the Indianapolis IAHE Conference. And the great thing is they have a Children's Conference going on at the same time! No need to find a baby sitter, and we can enjoy the pool at the hotel as a family.
  15. Yes, I guess I would be surprised. But as one who bought and used SSRW a few years ago, you really don't need to watch the video. (It's kinda boring, too! ;))
  16. We do everything except eat lunch off of ours! To save on spray I've learned to spray a little into a rag and keep using the rag to erase rather than to spray the board (ours is huge). Have you tried using a Magic Eraser to get the shadows off? ME's are great for many stubborn stains.
  17. I LOVE my hp printer and copier. You can try to sell your cartridges on eBay.
  18. only after you do your strength training and cardio ;) !
