  1. Stealing a poor Ker's recess over a work sheet! Oh my that is so sad. You definitely did what was best for your family. Hugs and Dairy Queen is definitely in order.
  2. We are doing K this year and my son has loved, loved, loved My Fathers Dragon Trilogy and Little Pear Trilogy.
  3. Our family recently joined a local church after being out of the church for many years. When we brainstorming where to visit, churches with a nursery went to the top of the list. We checked church web sites or Facebook pages to learn more about them prior to visiting. Being a visitor with young kids, its important to me to have an escape route if things got bad. My older son really likes the Sunday school and our church has a coffee social after the service. My kids love it, but it also gives us a regular opportunity to meet and form friendships with the other members.
  4. So can you download and burn music or is it just to listen? Sorry to Hijack your post.
  5. We also have service that night. We go to a Dutch Reformed Church. I don't believe it is in high attendance.
  6. I'm late to the party, but I recently bought MP Enrichment for 1st. In the back of the guide there is a list by week for the story books used, another for the additional ss/ sci books, and another for art and composer list. I was super happy to find these, as it saves me time. They also sell the art cards to go with the grade your doing for another 10 bucks. And another person on this forum shared that on the website, spotify, there is MP Enrichment play lists with the music selections.
  7. English: Phonics Pathways, ZB 1st handwriting, Climbing Higher to Good English, Read Alouds Math: Mc Ruffy 1st Science: Mc Ruffy 1st and library books History: U.S. Holiday studies Geography: Beginning Geography Music and Art: coop, MP Enrichment, at home projects Gym: coop
  8. A favorite around here is the home made mac and cheese with broccoli and ham cubes.
  9. My five year old enjoys Inchimals and Linkin Logs. We also have a few small Lego sets and a marble run and he adores those too. I am also thinking about MiniLuk as I need more independent quiet activities for toddlers nap time.
  10. Another vote for Millie Molly Mandy story book. My son loves that one.
  11. Another option might be, Build York Library K Around the World. It uses both chapter books and picture books to explore the world in 30 weeks. We are using this now for K and it has been a lot of fun. As for Pre K vs K. Its really what you feel is the best fit for your kids.
  12. Thanks MMASC! I am planning to use MP 1st with my DS and needed to get the music selections still. I did not know about this. Sorry OP for lurking.
  13. Someone kindly shared a website that emails you the daily reading for each day. I've been reading along and caught up in Genesis.
  14. I'm late to the party, but I'd like to join. Still trying to decide on Chronological verse the daily. Leaning towards chron.
  15. Have you looked at Build Your Own Library? Secular lit based.
  16. DS 5- Marble run and his last minute Santa request, Trouble. Trouble received a huge squeal of joy! DD almost 2- Stuffed cat that sings and a baby stroller. I love the simplicity of young hearts. :)
  17. Thank you everyone. I came across these looking for 1st grade LA stuff. I'm glad to know that the TM isn't needed. I was thinking what on earth could be in there that I wouldn't know? But being pretty new to homeschooling, I would of bought it out of fear of being unprepared. I guess next thing I'll do is take out the books from the library and see if he's ready for this. Hope you all have a great weekend :)
  18. Could you please share with me your experience with the Memoria Press 1st grade Story Time Treasures? I am looking at these, but have some questions. For example, Story Time Treasures covers 5 picture books over 16 weeks? Or did I read that wrong? How often is it scheduled? Do you need the Teachers answer book? Thank you for your help. :)
  19. Timberdoodle put on FB that this upcoming week they are doing there "Black Friday sale". I know I'm excited.
  20. Southern Columbia County here. I heard there is a co-op in Red Hook, but I haven't been able to find out about it. My son is almost 5. I know there are a ton of HS, but I have had a hard time connecting too.
  21. We use Build your Own Library's Around the World lit based K. Light and fun. Sonlight is another option. Or you can use them as a book list.
  22. Build York Own Library K is Around the World themed. I'm doing it with my son for K, but it may be worth looking into.
  23. Gail Gibbons has lovely books on many K friendly science topics, the moon, all kinds of animals, est. Your library system would most likely have them.
  24. The book is, How to Make Apple Pie and See the World. Its a cute one. We read it a few weeks ago.
