  1. This sounds like a lot of fun. My 11yo dd collects post cards and would love to add to her collection!
  2. My dc love Guitar Hero for ds. They also have that on the Wii. They also love MarioKart, Star Wars Lego, and my daughter likes Pet Vet.
  3. I would leave my 11yo asleep if I told her the night before. She is very mature and responsible. I have left her to go grocery shopping, etc. I would not leave my two younger dc with her for more than 10-15 minutes, though, as they are too close in age to really listen to her or take instruction from her. I have a 15yo ds that I do leave all three youngers with for date night, errands, etc. He and my 11yo know what to do in case of emergency. One night, a date night, my dh and I got a call from our 15yo that there was a man in our driveway who ran up in the woods. The kids saw him twice. W live on the side of a mountain with nothing around us, so no reason for him to be there. He had already called 911, the doors were locked, and we went straight home. It was unnerving to see sheriff's cars circling our property and in our driveway when we got home, but he did the right thing. It was a long time before I left them again after that.
  4. I wore that dress 27 years ago. I look at it now and wonder what I was thinking. I don't think I weigh much more, but things have moved around too much to every be able to wear it - even if I wanted to - which I don't!
  5. I can vascilate between witchiness and weepiness. HTH, Kathy Me too! It makes me so angry, but my dh will ask, "Are we murderous or suicidal today?"
  6. Both of my older sons used Latin for their foreign language and had no trouble with college admissions. They also had two years of Spanish as well, but I think the Latin alone would suffice for college admissions.
  7. I use the three that you mentioned. In addition, we have a great used book store and I can sometimes find real treasures there. They also have a deal where the kids can bring in one of their paperbacks and get "bucks" to spend on a new book.
  8. We do not live near a Trader Joe's, but I have always dunked my chocolate chips in my coffee (plain ole' Chips-Ahoy). I LOVE that - but I love anything to do with coffee.
  9. I'm 45 and my OB GYN told me at my last yearly check-up that my complaints (not sleeping well, eyesight going, weight gain, etc.) were pre-menopause. There are worse things than getting old - I just can't think of any right now. Oh yeah - and memory loss.
  10. Yes, I get cranky. It helps if I know it's coming, so I keep a calendar. What doesn't help these days is that my 11yo dd and I cycle together - that is a new one for me, because my older children are boys. It is impossible for my dh to take off work so I can hide. Since that's not an option, I deal with myself and my cranky daughter the best I can. It is definitely our most trying schooling days of the month. My advice would be to keep lots of chocolate around!
  11. What I put on cucumber sandwiches is cream cheese. I use white bread and cut them in pretty little crustless squares. You could also do this with tuna or chicken salad, dressed up with diced grapes.
  12. This is the one I use: http://www.vernonjohns.org/snuffy1186/movies.html
  13. Maybe try a shipping/copy store that has a blueprint printer (for extra large/oversize copies or printing). My husband has four of these stores and thinks that may work.
  14. I am not NEARLY that organized. Our books are grouped together by topic (Science, Reference, History, Religion, Geography, etc.). Our historical fiction books are shelved chronologically, and our non-historical fiction together. It works for me, and I know where to find everything I need. When my kids need a book, I tell them where in the library to look for it.
  15. I would eat it, as long as nothing tasted or smelled "bad."
  16. My third grade daughter read it earlier this year and seemed to enjoy and understand it.
  17. We are in the process of going from a pop-up to a small tow-behind trailer. From what I can tell, there are many small travel trailers that sleep 6-8. You will probably want to look at 19-21 ft. I would really miss not camping. The feel in a lodge or cabin is just not the same to me, and my kids love it - love making friends in the various campgrounds, the nightly fire, etc.
  18. I HATE my washer and dryer. It has been patched together by my husband I don't know how many times. I have to run the spin cycle twice or the clothes come out dripping wet. My fantasy washer and dryer is the turquoise ones (can't remember what brand) with Kelly Ripa in the commercial.
  19. Good for you! That must feel great.:001_smile:
  20. My second son was this way, always losing things, etc. He also requires a lot of sleep. Sometimes on Fridays, after a full week, he would go to sleep at 3:00 p.m. and wake up on Saturday at noon. He is a very bright boy, though, and academically gifted. When he joined the Marine Corp, I worried a lot about this. The consequences for being scatter-brained would be much worse than anything he had ever experienced. He has gotten much better, but did tell me he has had to have the lock cut off his gear locker three times because he keeps losing the key! At some point, they have to take responsibility. I'm sure your son (maybe after several painful lessons) will find his own way to cope.
  21. I can relate to this as well. I had three mc is one year after our third son. The thing I hated the most is when people said, "It was for the best." Best for who? My husband has always said, "The world if full of wonderful people and six a** holes." I seemed to run into all of them during this time period. We did end up having one more after this, even though our doctor said we wouldn't (and adopted two!). It's best just to let statements like that go. It's not worth the space in your head.
  22. Another vote for Latin Christiana. My kids have really enjoyed using this - and my 3rd grader is picking it up quicker than anyone else!
