  1. Someone here said they had seen that happen, but I haven't. It doesn't seem like it would be any different than if I repped you now, and then two days later I earned a new square. Where would it end? The rep I gave back when I was only worth one point would have increased dramatically over the last couple of months. So I can't see how it would be retroactive like that. I'd like to experiment on it. Maybe have someone with 49 posts rep me then make their 50th post right away, so that it was still on my CP, and see if it turns green and if it becomes worth a point. It's a curiosity, for sure.
  2. I was here for months before I got my first rep. You're off to a good start! :D
  3. I never watched Dawson's Creek, but Joshua Jackson's character on Fringe was what kept me interested. I really don't like the female lead, but I'll give her a chance to grow on me. It wasn't "fantastic" but it was good enough to keep watching.
  4. You can rep someone by clicking on the scales in the upper right corner of their post. But until you have 50 posts, your rep won't have any point value. Make sure to leave a comment and your username when you rep, because otherwise it will be anonymous. To see if someone has repped you, click on User Control Panel (CP) on the blueish bar near the top. You will see the last five reps that you have received there.
  5. I completely agree with this. I didn't know what the libertarian party stood for until a couple of months ago. Prior to that, I had been struggling with my inability to strongly support either of the two main parties. When I heard the basic ideals of the libertarian party, it was like light bulb went off. "Yes! That's what I agree with. It makes so much sense! Why isn't this more popular?" But I think the two main problems are that 1) People feel like they'd be wasting their vote with a third-party candidate and 2) They simply haven't really investigated other parties. I'm guilty of both. So I can't say officially that I'm libertarian, although the quiz showed me to be 100% social 70% economic. But I do feel that as a whole it represents my desires better than either of the two main parties.
  6. :grouphug: Be glad the chocolate went down well. Mine didn't after giving my deposition. In a way, I was "lucky" enough to have sat through two days of other people's depositions, so I sort of knew the basics of what to expect. Your lawyer will want you to give as brief an answer as possible without being untruthful. I'm apparently incapable of giving anything but a completely thorough answer, but I feel otherwise it's like a lie of omission. My lawyer was not pleased, and he let me know on several occasions. But I didn't want to be sitting in court months later and answer more fully and then be accused of lying under oath during the deposition. There were several days that I basically couldn't function beyond the very basic physical necessities. This has been an emotional and financial burden like none I've ever experienced before. You do the best you can. You get the help you need. And you push through. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  7. Another one who danced to "Wonderful Tonight"! It was performed by a string quartet. I got married in '94. I don't know what I marched down the aisle to, but it wasn't the wedding march. I found out at rehearsal that it was considered secular, and therefore could not be played in the church. :glare:
  8. Well, well, well. I need to get my eyes checked. I just realized, for the first time, that the admin have SIX light greenies!! Did everyone realize this but me? All along I've been thinking ten was the most squares to get. Now I see it's eleven. So Jenny, you DO still have some work ahead of you! Congrats, dear.
  9. I knew I shouldn't have fallen for that line last night... (Since the hover punchline won't show up here... "Supercollider? I 'ardly know 'er!")
  10. When I was director for a private school, many parents had signs for our school's registration stolen from their yards. We were such a tiny little school, you wouldn't think our "rivals" would care that much, but apparently they did. Juvenile.
  11. It was easier years ago, before the internet. There weren't as many options. I went with the one that my friend (who dragged me to the mall to get one when she found out I had never had Tea before) suggested. Since that time, I've made tea with many different appliances. But none have I liked as much as the original style. Oh, and, sometimes you really do get what you pay for. I've had a couple that died before the first pot was brewed. And it's just not something you want to return, you know?
  12. Apples and Pears Spelling has worked for my daughter in a way that no other program has. (And I've tried tons of them.)
  13. I just finished In the Garden of Iden by Kage Baker. I've now started The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. I'm also working through The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, as well as a couple of math and logic books.
  14. But the initial post didn't specify asking the Christian God. :)
  15. My daughter has OCD. I suspected it since she was about 6, but just dealt with the issues as they came up. This past year her symptoms increased dramatically, and my bag of tricks was empty. I finally found an adolescent psychiatrist who has been great. We went with meds, and had planned on therapy once the meds started kicking in, but all of her symptoms pretty much disappeared, so we haven't pursued it. Lately she has been picking at her skin and causing sores, and if she's not able to stop herself, we will try therapy for it. If that's the only symptom she's having right now, it might be hard to get a diagnosis. You can try talking to her pediatrician and see what s/he thinks. Oh, and my daughter's symptoms sometimes are worse with stress, but others aren't.
  16. While I fully agree with this in almost every case, I have to say Buffy is quite different, to those of us who are devout Whedonists. :D
  17. Oh so very wrong, indeed, were you. They are NOT created equally. Some are purely utilitarian. Others are more fun to watch and listen to. Others are good in concept, but not in reality. Some break after the first rinse cycle. Then there are those that help you find your way in the dark. And the funny thing is, no two people will likely agree on which falls into which category. If you've only tried one kind, you just might not know what you're missing.
  18. Finally... common ground! :D Between the Nuge and (if I recall correctly) Gene, we can dismiss that silly Crowe/Stewart thing. :grouphug:
  19. Well, I was referring to *anj* in that post (and only because I know she can handle my sense of humor) but if you've been "spreading" properly, you should be able to get me again on the 10th. Ya know, in case you were wondering. :D
  20. Jenny, I thought of this post today when I became aware that my daughter had a few things mixed up about her anatomy. So far, all we had done was talk about it. (Repeatedly, on this particular point.) All the words in the world apparently weren't getting the point across. So I found an online visual and explained it again, and it was like she was hearing it for the first time! Obviously, diagrams aren't a necessity, but they can really help explain physiological concepts.
