  1. Can you imagine what the line would have been like if it had been Edward and not his father..... :)
  2. The woman up in Illinois who does our Spanish class Charges $50 an hour. I pay half with another family so it is a class of 4 children. She taught Spanish in the local High School and has her Masters. Down here in Florida I was paying $30 an hour for a native Spanish speaker from Peru. He was OK but I wasn't thrilled. On the advice of a friend my boys are meeting for the first time with a woman from Ecuador. She is a recent immigrant and was a music and art teacher down there. She is coming to our apartment and so far I'm loving her. I'm paying her $40 for 2 hours.
  3. We went to see in on Friday Afternoon. I thought they did well with the special effects but that they lost the sweetness of Escape to Witch Mountain. My 9 year old loved it and my 4 year old said that it was too scary.
  4. I think there is a place for a certain level of possessiveness over what you own. There are certain things that I will not lend out because they are important to me or too expensive to replace. If it is an attitude that extends to all her possessions then your daughters attitude needs to be worked on. If it is over special books that are easily damaged by corner marking or laying it down open to save a place, then I'd tend to allow her to be careful with her books. It could be that my own attitude is wrong though. ;)
  5. My husband takes adderall. He doesn't take the extended release as it didn't seem to work well for him. Adderall makes him stay away, not sleepy. He has a smaller appetite but I don't think it makes him spacey. It doesn't sound like the medicine is working correctly with your body chemistry. There was no getting used to it period. My son take Vyvanse which is supposed to be a better form of Adderall. Have you tried that one?
  6. I love gas!!! I'm having to use electric right now and I find it to be a pain. I don't know anything about brands though, sorry.
  7. This is a great story!! I wish it would work with my boys but I don't think that it would work with my oldest as he isn't competative.
  8. Can I ask...How do you research? I've searched on-line for breeders in the area but how do you know what they breed for and how reliable they are? Do you begin conversations with several breeders at once? Do you go to dog shows? How should I go about researching and deciding who is a reputable breeder?
  9. Maybe he is a single dad, thought you were cute and was trying to get information or his courage up to ask you out. :D
  10. I loved the show. It was sad when some of my meerkats disappeared or didn't act like I wanted them to act. ;)
  11. How beautiful..... My very best friend from high school adopted her own 2 bundles of joy from Korea. If you don't mind, I'm going to share your post with her. I know that she would identify with the emotions that you expressed here.
  12. The receipt checker's name at the local Sam's Club is Boo. He has a shaved / bald head and looks kind-of like a biker dude. I giggle to myself when I think of meeting him in a dark street and having him say " It's Boo ".
  13. We went to the Kennedy Space Center this past November and LOVED it. We spent two days there and didn't get to do everything that I wanted. I chose to do the Kennedy Space Center versus some of the other neat attractions in Florida because of the educational value combined with the cost. If you go, I suggest you do all the tours that you can. It was during the tours and I-Max movies that I and my boys learned the most. The Astronaut Museum in a separate location but included in your admission...don't forget to stop there on your way out.
  14. I have all boys so we stuck with Biblical, but not terrible unusual, first names; family middle names; and a pretty basic two syllable last name. My name is Elisabeth with an "s" and I always have to point that out to people, so I stuck with traditional spellings of all the names. I think the boys have strong names that will carry them into whatever occupation they decide to have.
  15. I've read the whole series and I'm in the process of rereading the series for the second time. I identified with the emotions in book 2 as I went through a divorce at 24 - The pain, the numbness, loss of dreams and family, and finally coming out of it a couple of months later. I didn't find the s*x scenes to be all that descriptive and I like the fact that there was no premarital fooling around. I'll reevaluate when I reread the last book. All that to say.... I really enjoyed the books.
  16. Thanks for the responses..... I know I will be disappointed if I see the movie. I always am when I've read the book first but...... I have over a month to decide, right? :) Thanks again.
  17. I just finished reading the first two books in the series and am having to wait for the next two to arrive. Anyway, I'm wondering what those of you, who have read the books, think of the movie? Should I watch it when it come out on DVD or should I just live with what my imagination did while reading.
  18. We are temporarily in Florida for my husband's job and Facebook allows me to feel contected with people and activities at home. I also love getting reconnected with classmates from grade / high school and College who live all over the country.
  19. My husband flew today, not in that area at all, but it made me stop and think. I heard the pilot walked the plane twice to make sure everyone was off before leaving himself. He is quite the hero.
  20. I'm from Illinois, north of Chicago, where I've lived all my life but am down in Clearwater, FL for a couple of months as my husband has a contract position down here. I giggle to myself as I watch the weather report and they talk about it being cold. It is not cold here!!! Now I do understand that they need to warn people about the freeze that happens at night so that they can protect their plants and crops. I have to say...I'm soooo glad that I'm not up North right now.
  21. I was 38 for most of my pregnancy and gave birth at 39. The only test that I had was an ultrasound and it was because I wanted to know if I was having a girl or boy. Personally, I don't think the tests are necessary. Eat well, take your vitamins, and extra folic acid. Congratulations on your new little one to come.
  22. I bought it. It is next in line to be read. Sounds like I'm in for a treat.
