  1. I am putting together a book of wise words, Bible verses etc for a High school graduate friend and I was wondering if you could give that one (or 2 or 3) words of wisdom, what would it be? Kathy
  2. I have seen this name now a couple times on this board and it is causing my curiousty meter to go up...I did do a google search...but it looks like that what you buy for $50 is for one child only...is that really the case...the games can only be played with one kid at a time?? tell me more too please...I have 2 children who could really benefit from becoming more solid on their facts. Kathy
  3. thanks to all who replied...I appreciate it a lot!
  4. I have seen these so I am glad you said they were ok...I might try them. Are your kids picky? Mine tend to be...just wondering.
  5. With summer coming, and hot dog season upon us, I was wanting to buy organic or all natural hot dogs...but I can't spend money on food my kids won't eat...if anybody has expereince with this and can tell me where and what brand their kids will eat, I would greatly appreciate it. THANKS! Kathy
  6. we love Growing with Grammar here...in case you are still looking...
  7. thank you very much for all of your help on this...I was wondering about this and know I feel better.
  8. I would like to know if there is anybody in this group that has used Singapore for a years but never or rarely used the teacher's guide and was still VERY pleased with the results. I have a friend who has been using Singapore for 2 years without the TG and says she is plesed with the results so far...so I was just curious. Thanks.
  9. I am looking for some opinions on Christian Liberty Press Spelling and phonics programs. If you use or have used these, will youplease tell me what you and your children thought? Thanks. Kathy
  10. Help me! I have thorn in my finger and I don't know how to remove it...it went straight in and I can't pull it out and it HURTS!!!!! Please tell me how to get it to come out. I soaked last night in warm epson salt water and I have tried Ledum and Silica this morning...but maybe I need to take a few more doses or wait or something (if you know homeopathy, maybe you can help me out with that too)...thanks!!!!!
  11. I'm bumping this hoping that someone else will add something...
  12. I am curious about this...can you send me a link to the diction site. Do you just read something and have your child copy it...do you helpwith spelling and such? Thanks.
  13. sorry try this link: Amazon.com: Memorize in Minutes : The Times Tables (9780965176965): Alan B Walker: Books Kathy
  14. I have NEVER used the TE to ETC. You can, but I don't. I just go over the rules as they come up in the workbook...the only time that it might come in handy is at the end when they have a test...but you can make up the test too...what I mean by that is one of the sections is circle the word that the teacher tells you...they are all words that were used during the book...so just pick one. I haven't bought Byond the Code yet...I buy books as I need them.
  15. my daughter struggled with this very thing too, that is until I bought this book ...it is working like a charm and she loves it too.
  16. Spinning off another thread... can someone give me more of a detailed description of Phonetic Zoo and Spelling Power. I have 3 kids...ages 9,8 and 5. I might be looking for a different program for next year...but with 3 kids (two of them need help) and my oldest is pretty independent. So I am not looking for something too teacher intensive....but effective...what we have now (Spelling Spectrum) has a nice workbook and the kids are learning things...but not a lot of spelling...it's not carrying over like I would like.
  17. Are you asking about manipulatives..or just books. If it is just books, all you would really need are the workbooks, textbooks and the HIG's. Normally I wouldn't say you need a teacher's guide (because the concepts are so easy), but if you don't learn to teach your children the way that Singapore teaches, when they get a little bit older, the method will get confusing to them...if they learn it young, it will be so much better. So, get the HIG's and use them. As far as manipulatives, many things you can make, find or create at home...but if you go to the Singapore website, there is a page that lists the manipulatives by book that would be helpful in owning. IF you are unable to find it, let me know...I can probably dig it up again. Kathy
  18. I have soaked these in oxi-clean before with success. What I did was put HOT water in my washing machine with oxiclean (I don't remember how much, but I know I didn't skimp on it...)...let them soak overnight or all day long and then drained then I added soap to the machine and finished washing. Before drying, check to see if the stains were removed...I have had to do this for a second day before...but never any more than that. Good Luck!
  19. I don't know what to tell you, but I must say, you have totally raised my curiousity. This sort of thing is so touchy...I can understand you wanting to talk about and ask about something that is important to you...and yet not wanting to open up a can of worms...I suppose, maybe what you could do is, ask if there would be a few gals who would be willing to give you their opinion off the board (in an email or PM form)...or at least to bounce the topic off on, to see if it would be ok to post. I am volunteering if you need "an ear". Kathy
  20. I found wooden recorders here
  21. I also wanted to love it...but it was not nearly structured enough for me and it required way more book keeping than I was willing to do with 3 kids. I sold it several months after I bought it.
  22. thanks...I have always wondered that too..thanks for asking...and thanks for responding!!!
  23. Glad you and your baby are ok. This is the VERY reason that after my 1st emergency C-Section, I opted to have my other 2 sectioned as well. My second child also had his cord wrapped around his neck 3 times and I often wondered what could have happened had I opted for a VBAC...it is just not worth risking everything just so I could say I gave birth naturally. I know others have had sucessful VBACS but I wasn't ready to risk it.
