  1. Sam Rockwell, here I come. Now will it be Moon or Seven Psychopaths?

Moon is superlative. Amazing amazing movie.

      Haven't seen 'Seven psychopaths' yet.

Moon! Seven Psychopaths has the added incentive of Christopher Walken but its more of an ensemble cast thing.

  2. Sam Rockwell. Can one ever get enough?

Well I would say, no, one can never have enough Sam in their lives.

Saw The Way, Way Back yesterday. It was much better than I'd expected (I'm thinking of taking my 11yo to see it now), and Sam was fantastic. A coming of age movie that has nothing to do with anyone's virginity.

  3. Sanctimoniously declaring, "I don't care what it looks like, as long as it's functional," does more often than not result in the eating of one's words when, as is inevitable, the cheapest colour choice is hot pink.

Ha! That didn't even enter my mind. I don't dislike hot pink because it's girlie, I dislike it because it's the only colour worse than puce. The item in question is ear buds.

At the hospital where my youngest sometimes goes for treatment, the parking level that inevitably has open spaces is painted in a shade of hot pink literally painful for me to look at.

I feel much the same way. Something about the colour makes me turn away and shield my eyes as if it's too bright to handle.

  4. Saw A Midsummer Night's Dream with DD the Elder and some friends this afternoon, her first live Shakespeare. An amazing production. Bottom was played to great effect as a good ole boy (think O Brother, Where Art Though?, replete with singing), and the rest of the cast was first rate.

  5. School started out badly today, but the pumpkin-eating porcupine YouTube video saved the day. Phew.

  6. School today. Fill in the blank: John, Paul, George and ___________. What kind of parent am I that one of my kids didn't know (she does now, thanks to a bit of drill)? They can name all the Monkees.

      :D Did you rectify that?

Mine know who Bill Murray is... but that's because he's Bill Murray. Oh, and Gilda. But not Chevy.

I didn't really relegate the Beatles to school... we're calling it a musical field trip. The kids have heard most of the songs, but not in album order. We're on Magical Mystery Tour.

I've always loved that song, but there's so much going on with it I sometimes get overwhelmed with the sensation.

LOL. Orgasm was the simile I was considering using... too intense.

  7. Seeing Dylan Moran tonight. So excited... :D

  8. Shakin' all about. :)

  9. Shoot. Rain and cold. So much for Not Back to School Day at Oaks (Amusement) Park today. At least it's open next weekend, so we'll make up for it then.

That explains yesterday's downpour. I hope you're managing a bit better than the sky. *hug*

  10. Six screens to cancel my Audible membership? Please, you're just provoking me. My last credits went to the complete and unabridged Churchill's A History of the English Speaking Peoples and The Twelve Caesars. :D

Thanks for the reminder. I noticed I had a new credit arrive & 3 already banked. I need to spend & then cancel.

      lisabees

Umm...please explain the reason for canceling. What don't I know?

I only cancelled the membership subscription, not the account. Since I listen more often to podcasts than audio books, it's more cost effective to purchase the occasional book at full price.

  11. Smitten Kitchen's Harvest Roast Chicken with Grapes, Olives, and Rosemary is in the oven as I type. It smells soooooo good.

  12. Snow Day! The first in a couple years. Mmmmmm. Cocoa.

  13. Sun! School is suspended, we're going out to "take the dog for a walk."

  14. Thanks for the Reader's group invite. :)

  15. Thanks, I can hardly wait to see the restored film. It seems almost inconceivable to me that each frame of the original was hand painted.

  16. Thanks, it's been tough keeping more or less on topic. :)

  17. Thanks. Just so you know, I wasn't referring solely to you. :)

  18. The boards really are much nicer with a certain person on ignore, especially around Halloween. :)

  19. The definition of frustration: Trying to explain to a technical neophyte the difference between Chrome OS, Chrome browser on computers, and the Chrome browser app to explain why you can't install apps from the Chrome Web Store on an Android tablet. Argh!

  20. The girls have spent the better part of two days designing skins for the Minecraft characters. It's amazing what they've come up with given the constraints.

  21. The kids are doing a summer photography project with the deer. :)

  22. The kids are riveted to The Secret of Roan Inish. Warms the cockles of my heart.

My 8yo declared it, "the best movie, ever."
