  1. I think katilac's remark may have been tongue-in-cheek, but I'd rather err on the side of someone not being unnecessarily freaked out by my link. :)
  2. This is exactly what I was going to suggest! So fun for babies just learning to walk.
  3. This forum. :leaving: Also, NPR. [i had mentioned another source, but I think I'm going to swear off of it after what they had up today.]
  4. A woman came to my garage sale and asked about the homeschool books. She is thinking of homeschooling her son, who has autism. She also mentioned that she has ovarian cancer and will be having surgery soon. So, she obviously has a lot on her plate. In spite of all that, she was shopping for the refugees her church sponsors. Her church finds them an apartment and pays for the first three months of rent and utilities. They provide them with furniture, clothing, and household goods. They assist them with finding jobs and anything else they need. They gave a baby shower to a new mom, and the mom was so touched and grateful that she cried throughout the shower. They befriend the refugees. Although this woman was not well-to-do and had plenty of her own challenges, she left with lots of nice clothing and toys for other people who need them. Hope! This penguin story is also very nice. :)
  5. I am so sorry! Deepest sympathy and huge hugs to you tonight. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  6. I'm glad you were there for him, Bill, and I bet he was, too.
  7. Trying to regulate brain chemistry when it's off is so hard. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  8. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Praying now.
  9. Speaking of things that creeped us out when we were young--the ghost in the attic scene from the Brady Bunch terrified me every time. I *knew* it was just the girls messing with the boys, but still, the whole "I must have air" thing...shudder.
  10. Maybe you just need to fill your head with other stuff, like the puppy who can't get up, the infamous cat knocking the glass off the table, or anything starring Maymo the beagle. Unless dogs and cats give you the creeps--in which case I don't have much for you.
  11. Ah, I'm sorry. I should have posted a warning. I'll do that now.
  12. No advice, but hope you feel better soon, hornblower.
  13. In my experience, nothing beats an iPad or DVD player and lots of tv shows and/or movies for him to watch. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
  14. LOVED this!!! So sweet (plus, 80's music!). Thanks for sharing!
  15. How are you doing this morning, Terabith?
  16. Crimson Wife, this is for you: Church Planting Teams Running Out of Edgy Names (I personally do like Trunk or Treats.)
  17. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: , Terabith.
  18. How often do you bathe him? My husband and I are both slightly allergic to dogs, but giving our dog a bath about twice a week almost totally takes care of it.
  19. One of my earliest childhood memories involves watching tv with my family. A commercial featuring a ventriloquist's dummy came on the screen. I watched most of it, but at the end, my mom clapped her hand over my eyes and said in a shocked voice something about how they shouldn't allow that sort of thing when children might be watching. Naturally, I've always wondered what exactly happened at the end of the commercial. :) I've googled fruitlessly a few times. I always thought the dummy was Charlie McCarthy (you know, the one with the monocle.) So, today I was reading Slate, and I came across this: "Years before the overrated Silence of the Lambs made Anthony Hopkins a household name in horror, he gave the best performance of his career as ventriloquist Corky Withers in this 1978 shocker...Even Magic’s TV spot was horrifying—it was taken off the air at the request of parents whose children were given nightmares by the sight of the film’s ventriloquist dummy, 'Fats.'" [The tv spot, while not graphic, is creepy and disturbing. You are forewarned. :) ] Eureka! Mystery solved, after 35+ years! (And apparently my mom wasn't alone in her displeasure with the commercial, although I did expect something more gruesome.) Do you have any unsolved childhood mysteries, major or minor?
  20. Can you place his crate (securely!) up on a table, so he can see you while he is in it?

  22. Update, 10/29: "Thanks for praying for [..]. She has successfully made the switch from the hospital to the in-patient rehabilitation center. She is working hard, and the therapy is very intense. Thank you for continuing to pray for her healing process."
  23. Just remind yourself that they have seen it all before, probably thousands of times. I dress modestly for religious reasons, and I still prefer a male ob/gyn. They have always seemed gentler to me. YMMV. Of course, if you prefer a midwife, it doesn't hurt to ask again!
  24. Condoms plus spermicide are 99.7% effective with perfect (correct and consistent) use. I wouldn't bother with a diaphragm if I was using both.
