  1. Thanks for the reminder Terri. My local quilt shop makes pillowcase quilt kits that look like a lot of fun. I know what my dd and I will be doing this weekend! Yvonne in AL
  2. Hooray for pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top!:D Yvonne in AL
  3. I know that Bed, Bath & Beyond and Linens-N-Things(which is going out of business), have a deal going on a 5-inch and 7-inch set of santoku knives now. The set is retailing for $29.99, but you could use a 20% off coupon from BB&B, or you could get at least 25% off at Linens-N-Things going out of business sale. HTH, Yvonne in AL
  4. Have a safe, wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.....and don't eat too much turkey! :grouphug: Yvonne in AL

  7. I want my oldest ds to bring my camera back so I can actually use it!:glare: A macrolense...a good set of knives for the kitchen....some good cookware... Calphalon anyone? Most of all: A peaceful, pleasant day, with everyone happy with what they received. Yvonne in AL
  8. Diana Waring's history program uses a 3 year cycle. Ancient Civilizations and the Bible (Creation to Jesus) Romans, Reformers, and Revolutionaries (Fall of Rome to Amer. Rev. era) World Empires, World Missions, World Wars (Post American Rev. to present day) Truthquest can be used in a 3 year cycle: Ancient Egypt/Ancient Greece; Ancient Rome; Middle Ages Renaissance/Reformation; Age of Revolution I Age of Revolution II; Age of Revolution III (Or you could tweak it however you wished.) Just a couple of ideas.:001_smile: Yvonne in AL
  9. English From the Roots Up has been very successful around here. It is simple and easy to use. Yvonne in AL
  10. Well, I usually go ahead and buy any helps I can get with mathematics, so I do recommend getting the instructor's guide. You do not have to buy the test booklet, but they do have one. A workbook is available, but we never bought it. Kareni had a good idea...gotta keep up those Alg. II skills for further study and those wonderful standardized tests! BTW, I only popped in on the boards this past week, just like you. Great minds think alike? Or is it desperate homeschool moms always find each other!:D Yvonne in AL
  11. Hi Brenda, (Yes, I am finally back on the boards!) How about Mathematics: A Human Endeavor by Harold Jacobs? It would keep those logic skills going strong! Yvonne in AL
  12. Vacuum behind the refrigerator Declutter another one of dh's paper piles:lol: Yvonne in AL
  13. I will be praying for you Heather! Seven years ago we sold our house in TN the week of Christmas, then purchased this one in AL within 30 days. It can happen! Yvonne in AL
  14. Maybe your kids could "interview" your mom and dad about how things were for them as they were growing up. My kids always make a point to ask my dad if he remembers any funny or silly things I did when I was younger. They get a kick out of hearing what Mom did and my dad loves sharing my most embarassing moments. :001_huh: Yvonne in Alabama
  15. Thanks a bunch Heather! Now we are going to hold off on a purchase until Black Friday so we can save $60. Yvonne in Alabama:D
  16. :grouphug: Ria, please take care of yourself, see the doctor, and get some rest! I would have cried too. Yvonne in Alabama
  17. I haven't seen a good snow for over 6 1/2 years. That is what I get for moving from the mountains of east Tn to AL! I would LOVE to sled with my kids...we have a great hill down here, but no snow.:tongue_smilie: Yvonne in Alabama
  18. I like to shop for the big bargains that would make great Christmas gifts, but I really try to pick things that I can run in, purchase, and get out! Yvonne in Alabama
  19. I think you would be fine with either dress pants and a nice blouse or an inexpensive dress. At my dh's company Christmas party, we see a little bit of everything! Yvonne in Alabama
  20. I second The Teaching Company's chemistry course. Mr. Cardulla is great! This would be a good supplement to go with any book you choose. Yvonne in Alabama
  21. I have had the same experience as Lori. Jacob's Geometry really helped my middle ds with his logical thinking. Yvonne in Alabama
  22. Two things come to mind: Staying consistent and keeping up with everything else there is to do. Yvonne in Alabama
  23. We have used them to supplement the time period we are studying. My dc have all enjoyed reading the short biographies. I have not used them as a stand alone curriculum, but you could easily do that by adding in some literature from the time period and adding on a timeline study. Yvonne in Alabama
