  1. My kids have really enjoyed using this, and I have used Hake 8 with my ds when he was in 10th grade, for review. It is thorough and easy to keep up with for my kids. Ds says that he retained more from his year of Hake than from the other programs we have used. My younger dc saw his book and begged to switch over to Hake, so now I get to fork over the big bucks! 2. No experience with this text, but I just want to thank you for the link and resource information. My dd is thrilled to see this! Many, many, many thanks, Yvonne in AL
  3. You are still in my prayers, and I am very glad to hear that you are coping with the ringing much better. God is good ALL the time! Yvonne in AL
  4. Praising the Lord and praying for you, Molly!:grouphug: Yvonne in AL
  5. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I have used both, liked both, and preferred Apologia. I was just able to "do" it with consistency. So you can see, the difference was more "me" instead of the curriculum. HTH, Yvonne in AL
  6. Yep. They will all have to learn to drive a stick. My dad made me learn, and I have been grateful for this. We have a 24 year old Nissan that we keep for running around town and teaching the dc to drive a stick. Really! We keep it for that reason. However.....our oldest dd still does not know how to drive a stick. She and her dad would come to screaming matches when he tried to teach her. She did fine with me, but she gave up because she just couldn't take driving it with her dad. :tongue_smilie: Hmmm. You know, a nice, very used small car could come in handy for teaching your group of fellows.....and it would be fun for you to drive when you can go off by yourself for a while! Yvonne in AL
  7. You have received some very good advice. I am in the same exact boat as you are....I was once listed as the executor, then was bumped off and the responsibility given to a stepsister who has been known for her lying, meddling, etc. I have decided that I don't need anything but my memories of my dad. Anything else I happen to receive is only icing on the cake. Like Amy, I have seen way too many ugly battles over who gets what. It really could be a big blessing to you. Like you said, you can enjoy being with him now! :001_smile: :grouphug: Yvonne in AL
  8. Don't worry, they will get over it soon.;) Yvonne in AL
  9. I have lived with this since I was 10. Mine has gone along with a gradual loss of hearing, which has progressed to the point of my needing hearing aids. At 3-4K for digital ones, that just isn't going to happen anytime soon. (Hey, but maybe next year!) :001_smile: My ENT has told me to lay off caffeine, reduce stress (ha, ha), sugar, sodium, etc. The ringing is worse when I am in a room with fluorescent lights that "hum". My ds, an IE major, said that they studied this in one of his classes, and I am not imagining things! The "hum" does affect my hearing. So Jean, stay away from those humming fluorescent lights! ;) Honestly, I have learned to ignore the ringing for the most part. It does help to listen to some soft music when I cannot ignore it! I also try to get busy doing something physical, like playing my cello or quilting. I guess I am combating noise with noise. I definitely know what you are dealing with, and I will be praying for a quick end to this maddening thorn in the flesh! Blessings, Yvonne in AL
  10. My older two used Abeka until 7th grade, then we switched to Easy Grammar. They have both done very well on testing and in college classes, so for us it was a good fit and good prep for college. Yvonne in AL
  11. We have done the same sequence Foerster's Algebra I, Jacob's Geometry, then Foerster's Algebra II and Trigonometry with good success. Math Without Borders DVDs were helpful for Foerster. Yvonne in AL
  12. The book and lab manual will be on our list for curriculum purchases for next year. I have heard much about it, but have not seen an indepth review before yours. Yvonne in AL
  13. That is great news! We are still praying for a quick, uneventful recovery. Yvonne in AL
  14. Good results here for Algebra II & Foerster's using Math Without Borders. My ds says it is just what he was looking for in a DVD supplement.:thumbup1: Yvonne in AL
