  1. A bunch of us got together and made morsbags that we donated to vendors at our local farmers' market. I know someone else took donated t-shirts and made hundreds of bags for a local library. I second Craft Hope. I and/or the kids have been involved in several of their projects.
  2. Yes! I literally was just reading it and switched back over here to see your break announcement.
  3. Same here. It took my husband about 10 years to figure out we were not going to divorce every time I was annoyed with him because his family never, ever acknowledges anything unhappy, except when they're euphemistically discussing someone not present. It's disturbing.
  4. But, but... But... Noooooooooooooooooo. You're not going to take a blog break, right? (how bizarrely needy I suddenly feel)
  5. I wet my hair in the sink when it was thigh length. I just used the basket side and not the disposal side. :ack2: I don't wash it every day, though. It's curly and dry. Since I started using Kiss My Face gel, I don't even have to wash the product out... It just seems to go away.
  6. Oh, yeah. I would exercise the not feeling guilty at all option, then.
  7. What was your 3 yo doing? If a 3 yo came over to play at my house, it would be as you described, but if a 3 yo friend had come over when I *had* a 3 yo (or two), she would have just been assimilated into the pack. I wouldn't feel a bit guilty about not being a de facto sitter, or stipulating that play is outside-only, though.
  8. About a month ago, the boys were walking out of the living room to brush their teeth, Quinn following Holden. Suddenly, Holden stops and says "Quinn! Quinn! Listen!" <thbbbbbbbbtttttt> How did I handle it? I hid my face and held my breath while my husband - exercising great willpower and presence of mind - yelled something about that beig rude. And then I dissolved into helpless, gasping giggling as soon as they were out of earshot.
  9. You bet. I wouldn't wait for HS, either. I'd work out the drive time, but our lifestyle makes us very flexible.
  10. I just turned the garbage disposal on to the most lovely smell. Thank you to the child who shoved the orange peel in there. :) And thank goodness for Immaculate Baking Co's break & bake GF chocolate chip cookies. They are ever so quick and tasty.
  11. We use it though, as others have said, we have a Prime account for shipping. (Must check out that credit system now!) I watched the first series of Downton Abbey via Amazon, since it's not available on Netflix yet. The kids have watched some old movies not available on Netflix for streaming (1949 Little Women, for instance), and we rented a movie for streaming last night (Rio), which is a nice option. I don't know about Prime streaming, but you can make a wishlist queue for rentals. I saw that was one of the options for the movie we rented last night.
  12. Yes, I will absolutely eat something I don't like if it is served to me. I also make and eat things I don't like. Salmon, for instance. The kids enjoy salmon, so I'll serve it on occasion. The 10 year old doesn't care for asparagus (though she likes it more, recently) so that gets served less frequently than other vegetables, too. I will eat Brussels sprouts in any way, but the kids have preferred preparation methods - sautéed or roasted - so we tend to prepare them that way, rather than a less preferred method. I hated squash as a child, but learned to prepare squashes in ways I love as an adult. Very few things are off the menu here.
  13. I do that too! I just wet my hair in the kitchen sink so I can crunch it up with some gel before I go to work. (I leave for work at 5, work out after, come home and, ideally, shower and nap. Sometimes, it's just straight to napping :) )
  14. My kids eat what is served. Period. Outside of medical issues - for instance we have friends who have a diabetic son, and others with a child whose underlying medical issues cause dangerously low blood sugar - I am not inclined to cater to pickiness. Not everything I serve has to be anyone's favorite. They do have to display proper manners and eat what they are offered, graciously. My kids eat pretty much any cuisine, and are pretty adventurous when looking at a menu. And yes, they all have different preferences.
  15. Never too old for Babylegs. I would wear them now, if they came in a ladies' size 6. :D
  16. I agree. Milk chocolate chips are relatively new on the scene.
  17. Every other Thursday in months with an e in them. :D It totally depends on what I'm doing.
  18. Mine are getting Legos, new hiking boots, Nerf laser tag, a Lego alarm clock, funny tshirts... I know there are other things in there... They all got Nooks as an early Christmas gift.
  19. Ugh. My 10 year old spent the 9 year innocently asking me questions so she could argue with me about the answer. Seriously. I think she would lurk in her room, trying to figure out what question to ask to get the ball rolling. Thankfully she outgrew it shortly after I started answering every question with "are you looking for information or an opening for your prepared argument?"
  20. 1 - 40 weeks and 2 days 2 - 39 weeks and 6 days 3&4 - 37 weeks and 1 day (but they're twins)
