  1. I don't think freezing would work. The rice noodles are kind of delicate and, IMO, do not freeze well at all. It does keep well in the refrigerator for a week. You could maybe cook the tofu (or chicken) and freeze everything except the noodles. The noodles could be soaked in boiling water for a few minutes, then put in the jar with everything else and refrigerated, then use boiling water to turn it all into soup. It really needs the steeping in boiling water for 5-10 minutes in the sealed jar to make it all work together.
  2. I make four jars of this every week and keep in the fridge for quick lunches. The instant bouillon recipe in that link is AMAZING. We use it in mashed potatoes and dh sprinkled some on his pasta last night. That is what you want to replace the gross ramen powder!
  3. I imagine the movie is edited for TV.
  4. What did you put in the stove?? ETA: I don't care what your kid watches, I'm just hoping your family wasn't breathing the toxins from an actual DVD melting into your stove.
  5. Just watched the trailer, I have goosebumps! I've been pitch-slapped!!!!
  6. No closet here, I'm a huge fan! Now I have to ask Google to show me....
  7. Definitely. I flew by myself for the first time at 14 (I'm 41 now), from Ohio to Florida, with a layover that had an unexpected gate change, which meant a terminal change (at O'Hara). I looked at the printed map, asked people for help, it was all good. She can have the airports' maps queued up on her phone/ipod and there are plenty of helpful people. I bet this experience will be an immense confidence booster!
  8. I have had the best success using Steri-Lid, which is an eyelid wash you can find at drug stores. Washing my eyelids twice a day with this completely clears everything up.
  9. Do you have IBS? My daughter does and she can't eat anything with onions or garlic or she is in severe pain. The green part of green onions is okay, though, so maybe try that for a light bit of onion flavor?
  10. You kind of have to play around with the time to see what kind of texture you like. I think, at least for my Instant Pot and the way I cook, the beans hold together better when I don't leave them in the post-soak water for a long time. Sometimes they sit in there for an hour or two before I remember that I need to drain and cook them for real. It really depends on the size of the bean and how old they are.
  11. It takes about an hour, depending on what kind of beans I'm using; lentils, for instance, don't need a pre-soak, but I prefer to do that for black/pinto/red/chickpea, etc. Put the beans in the pot and cover with a few inches of water, set it to 4 minutes using the manual setting. When it's finished let it release pressure naturally. Drain the beans, rinse well, return to pot and cover with a few inches of water or broth. Here is where you would add any other ingredients for seasoning (garlic, onions, jalapenos, etc.). Set it to 5-7 minutes, let pressure release naturally. Done! If I want to make soup I add the rest of the ingredients after the initial soak but put it on the soup setting, which is 30 minutes. It's not necessary to have it on that long, but I think it helps to deepen the flavors. I have also made a great pasta dish using gluten-free penne. I put it the uncooked pasta in, covered it with a costco-sized jar of sauce and a couple cups of water, onions, garlic, basil, etc. I think I set it for 5 or 6 minutes and we ate it all in one sitting. In fact, I think I'm going to make that for dinner tonight!
  12. I use my Instant Pot almost every day. I've only made vegan meals in it (and boiled eggs)--it's so easy to cook dried beans now. I like to steam potatoes then mash them in it and let it keep them warm.
  13. Ours is averaged throughout the year; it's usually around $320-350. But before we switched to averaged billing our electric bills July-Sept were at least $600, usually closer to $700 or even $750. We have a gas heater, so not as much use in winter. 3000sf house and a/c set at 74 in summer in Texas.
  14. My FitBit One wouldn't charge so I emailed the company. After using their suggestions for how to fix it, it still wasn't charging. I knew it was the charger cord and after several emails back and forth telling them their advice wasn't working, they sent me a new charger cord. Give that a try, it might solve your problem.
  15. I slacked off on using mine lately and have suffered for it. One thing I'm going to do, while it is still fresh in my memory, is make a list of things I wish I had done earlier in the holiday season. Nothing like realizing it's three days before Christmas and you don't know what you're having for dinner or remembering that crazy cousin you forgot to buy a gift for, etc. I'm planning on using the same journal I started with this year and when it is finished I will get a new one.
  16. Count me in. I feel like we are hemorrhaging money.
  17. I have one and use it daily. My latest discovery is that you can make boiled eggs in it and the shells just slip right off, even on fresh eggs!
  18. Oh, and try the EverCurl cream for styling. Comb it through your hair then use a hair dryer with a diffuser and you will be so happy with the results!
  19. L'Oreal has a new product line that is amazing. It's called Eversleek and is sulfate-free. I've been using it on my super-curly hair and have been pleased with it. I got it at Target but I'm sure you can get it anywhere.
  20. I don't like chocolate (but I LOVE wine); I have bought gifts of chocolates that are meant to be paired with specific types of wine. If you have a liquor store near you I would be that they have something like that and can help you find the right pairings. It sounds like a really thoughtful gift! ETA: Here is the site for the chocolate I'm referring to.
  21. I'm sure it will be fine, but you can always call poison control and ask. Once one of ours, at two years old, broke into the "child-proof" medicine box and opened the "child-proof" Tylenol and drank the entire bottle. Yes, poison control was already on our speed dial. They said she would be fine but if she started vomiting or fell asleep and we couldn't wake her to have her seen.
  22. I completely forgot about using mine a month or two ago...no wonder it feels like my house is falling down around me! Thanks for the reminder to use it; now if I can just remember where I left it!
  23. In the winter, 65 during the day, 62 at night. My family hates it, I love it.
