  1. I like that they're using flashbacks sparingly - appropriately doesn't seem like the right word - so far (I've only seen episodes 1&2). As much as I want to see everything, I think it's helping show the growth of their relationship to see him confiding in her.
  2. Has she tried the Ranger's Apprentice series? I know they are "boy" books, but I enjoyed pre-reading them, and would have liked them at that age.
  3. 7yo boy wearing a skeleton hoodie to his grandfather's funeral? Not so much. Cute backpack - not at a funeral? No problem! Should mention I had to follow a link to see what a sugar skull was, so maybe some regions are more sensitive than others?
  4. I'd wonder if this was our family, but surely it's happened more than once!
  5. Just watched episode one here in Canada, watched 1&2 previously on the internet.... Love the books love the show! Glad to gather that the Mess Fitz thing is a dream :) Please don't tell me we're only supposed to watch them once! Once when it's found from the US, at least, once with DH, once with my friend who doesn't have a dvr and works while it's on..... And Calandalsmom, the words bothered me too! I've been singing Skye Boat Song to DS9 since he was born! But it makes me feel better that Bear McCreary adapted words written by Robert Louis Stevenson, because they suited the story more.
  6. Our dog is only three, and I dread when this time comes, and hope I'll have the strength and wisdom to do what's best for him. Hugs to you.
  7. We bought a portable keyboard. But it wasn't long until we needed notes that weren't there, and now they are learning pedals.... If it's a try it out for a year sort of thing, though, it would work.
  8. Haha! Like my mom's bottle of ketchup that only my kids used, the one time she made them hot dogs when they were 3 and 1. Then we moved to the Arctic for three years, moved back and it was still there. I gave her permission to toss it.
  9. Coming from a W, who was secretly relieved to have married a K.... I think she should focus more on helping him deal with a situation neither he nor she is in control of. Both of my kids *could* be in the next grade, according to their ages and academic ability. But boy am I glad they're not. I can supplement with challenging academics at home, but I can make up for going from oldest to youngest in terms of class dynamics. It's a case of equal not being the same as fair, I guess. They line up A-Z for half the year, then Z-A for the other half. Only two kids in the whole class ever get to be at the front of the line - isn't hers lucky he'll be there for half of it? And what about A? He/she will never be at the front again in grade 2! If she was looking for an excuse to start homeschooling, instead of a reason, I guess she's got one!
  10. Sounds wise to me! Why does she need to text you about it, though? That's just.... Annoying ;)
  11. Which Knockoff Product Are You? You got: Square Shaped Corn You’re confident and direct, and you always tell it like it is. You are always down to earth, and are easily put off by pretentious people.Via offbrandweblog.tumblr.com Which Badass ’90s Cartoon Lady Are You? You got: You’re Carmen Sandiego from “Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?†Sure, yes, you’re a thief whose talent is evading law enforcement and also nerdy children. But you do it all with such verve and flair! I think I'm most sad that I'm not unique!
  12. Glad I bought the 2 pack!
  13. Ha! I was going to say my friend put her now-ex's in the pizza oven, after "dropping" it in a puddle, and that seemed to do the trick. As to your real question, I can't help you!
  14. Right, then. According to http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Classic#5th_generation that iPod came along in 2005, was the last one with a plastic cover before aluminum bodies came along. 15. If it's too old to update the iOS, would it be any good to you?
  16. I hear ya. I just spent an entire evening looking at courses, trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up..... And no luck. We move a lot, to small towns where there aren't a lot of options. So if I pick something that I could work at here, will it be a waste when we move in a couple of years? It's hard when you don't have a passion....
  17. This. Right down to being landlocked and calling them buffalo (sometimes boofaloos for fun)
  18. You know a topic/thread has been locked while you're reading it when your ability to quote disappears.... Sigh....
  19. I'm going to chime back in and say that my mine on the PS3 is awesome. Really, it's a thing of beauty. And nobody messes with my mine or my farm. In a way, it parallels life.... Sure you've got a great castle, DH. Yes boys, a beautiful road, and good job on getting the creepers! But where do they get that cobblestone? The diamonds for the armour? The coal for their torches? The wheat for their bread? Yep, you got it!
  20. Can't be! There's that whole group of (straight) guys who like My Little Pony.... What are they called again? Bronies!! That's it! Thank goodness for Google!
  21. I've been scrolling through all the responses, waiting to see if we'd get back to the horse thing....
