  1. I really thought I posted this; I have no idea what happened! On Monday, friends came over in the afternoon/evening (mom, dad, 1yo dd). At some point they mentioned that HF&M is rampant at daycare. I found out last night that they were taking dd to the doctor. (24 hours later). I bleached everything I can think might have been touched. The doctor confirmed today that she has it. Is there anything else I can do? My boys are old enough that they wash their hands regularly and aren't randomly sticking them in their mouths. How long does it survive on things? Will it help to be diligent about disinfecting doorknobs, bathrooms, etc? For how long?
  2. Unless I do pancakes or something (brunch, really) everyone gets their own breakfast. I pack school lunches. Otherwise it's get your own or someone will make sandwiches or something. I make supper 98% of the time. But that's okay; I'm here to do it. Dh will enable us eating out if I want ;)
  3. Oh my! How did that happen?! Eight weeks! That will be after American Thanksgiving? What are your plans?
  4. PSA: I started a social group for fans of the show and/or books! :D
  5. Before report cards, the kids bring home their portfolio, which is what the report card is based upon. I wouldn't expect to see any recorded evaluations online until mid-October? (We started on Tuesday). Our teachers are accessible by email, Facebook, school phone, and depending on the teacher, by text or home phone. If there is a problem at school, or I have brought up a concern, they will usually call in the evening.
  6. Huh, my guess as to why they are rule breakers would have been that the -tal sounds more like the -tle in "little" than the "tal" in "tally", and that we don't say the "w" in two.
  7. Last year, in grade 3, DS had to keep track of reading minutes. He had other homework a couple of times, and a family journal on Fridays, which was really my homework, as I had to respond to his writing. DS7 is in a 2/3 split this year, and it sounds like the whole class will be doing the family journal, so I'll be really good at it by the end of next year!
  8. Add me to the sympathetic itching scalp crowd!
  9. I guess I would pick which book is her reading log book and use that one, although she may be reading others on the side. You know she's reading more, she knows it, and probably her teacher does too. I find that detailed reading logs are a sure fire way to dampen DS's enthusiasm, is I compromise.
  10. Are you logging minutes, or pages? If minutes, it shouldn't matter which book. So you could just use one title at a time to keep track of minutes, until it is done. I would ask the teacher. She may be trying to make sure kids don't give up on books and just start a new one. Or she may tell you to write down exactly what your dd is reading. Or she may only care about minutes. Or you could suggest your dd read her school library books at school and you'll keep track of what she is reading at home.
  11. Do you maybe need an R before the 8?
  12. Spent the weekend having DH's buddy here, which is fine, but if he's here to do stuff with you, go DO it already instead of hanging around making we wonder why you can't be emptying the dishwasher (or filling it!), or putting away laundry, or..... Then I took the boys to a BBQ with DH's work folks - while he was doing buddy stuff. And I had a last minute request to take a dessert. Yesterday, he got home just in time to go to work. Today was kids' first day back at school, tomorrow is my first day back at work. And yes, Aunt Flo arrived Sunday morning.
  13. With Alzheimer's is there a way.... I forgot the rest of the question.
  14. We already agreed they'd be wearing kilts, and having speedos under the kilts seems contrary to the natural (ha!) order of things.
  15. Sigh. I have my grandmother's legs. Anything tight just squeezes the rest out the bottom.... I remember in grade 6 or 8? that spandex biker shorts were the thing all the cool girls wore at basketball. I'm glad I had the sense even then to know that was a bad idea when I tried them on!
