  1. Is OneDrive full? Is your subscription expired?
  2. Where did he start? And was it gradual, or just “here you go?”
  3. That’s the one! I’ll come over! I also like the layered dip!
  4. Well now we to compare what’s in a seven layer salad!
  5. Sorry, no humour, but as someone in a dry climate who plays the relative humidity game with the thermostat and humidifier all winter, balancing between air that is too dry and condensation causing mold, I present to you: How Stuff Works: Relative Humidity
  6. Yeah, I can see it if the parents have become friendly over the years and want to maintain that friendship. Or…. Nope, can’t think of anything else!
  7. Going back to the privacy thing, wouldn’t that be a huge violation if the whole department and more were told? On a smaller scale, at my office I was the bad guy who asked not to celebrate birthdays. Again, one person makes another a cake and wants to collect from everybody for a gift because they’ve got it soooo rough right now. Then the next person a week later gets no acknowledgment….
  8. My kids have always preferred leftovers. I bought the thermoses that keep things warm for 18 hours (which actually means still warm at lunch). I put hot water in the thermos while the food gets up to boiling hot in the microwave. Then I use a canning funnel to avoid messes, and voila! I also have yogurt cups that first put frozen fruit, Greek yogurt, and a splash of maple syrup, and the lid holds granola separately.
  9. I remember my grandparents having a thin piece of plywood under the cushions!
  10. Looking forward to the end of my (our) first month! It is definitely a shift in thinking, but so far so good. I am so very happy that DH decided a long time ago he’d rather not be able to easily access our chequing account balance. Him seeing the balance and deciding it was up for free spending is why I started pre paying bills, etc. And now that I’ve got the credit card thing figured out…. Very excited for the end of the month!
  11. Well, a slow cooker low is around 170F. So I’d say once the internal meat temp is good, yes, I’d eat it.
  12. You see that they started one, and the title, but you still have to click to see the content.
  13. How long is she walking at a time, and how cold? The weight of thinsulate will help you gauge the warmth. And they usually have a temperature rating based on that. Kombi, Head, North Face come to mind as good brands.
  14. That’s how I would probably *plan* it! No bad experiences here.
  15. We love our soda stream! We keep two bottles of sparkling water rotating in the fridge. I use it to make my own adult sparkling vodka beverages. We use the syrups and squirt flavourings, but have so much more control.
  16. Thanks! And that’s sort of the heart of the issue…. I thought if I made a separate Costco category, and moved what I don’t spend at the actual grocery store on weekly menu planning, DH could see how much is available/leftover to spend there. Then, we (he) could also see how much we spend there. We’ve been discussing the mindless throwing of things in the cart habit.
  17. So here’s my question (First time, first month with YNAB)… My budgeting method for food and groceries has been to automatically put the same amount from every paycheque onto the credit card that I use for those purchases. Has worked well for years, although not ideal. Now that DH has started taking over some of these purchases, and has never bothered to activate his card, more things end up coming out of our debit account and I’m left short there and with a surplus on the credit card, which all drives me a little batty. My budgeting plan is that the surplus builds on the card, then I know how much we can spend on a large Costco shop, for example. If I’m understanding YNAB correctly, I’ve got my debit account and credit card account. I’ve got fully-funded categories for groceries, gas, eating out, Costco, and the associated credit card payment. So now for this month, when I grocery shop, it will reduce the surplus on the credit card account when that transaction happens, and I will categorize that transaction as groceries. Then next paycheque, instead of automatically making that pre-payment on my credit card, I will continue to fund the categories with paycheque money. Then when I use the credit card for groceries, it will still show as a transaction with grocery category, but the associated credit card payment category will go negative, showing me the actual amount to pay from the next pay cheque. This will leave the real money in the debit account. Then if I don’t use all the grocery budget in that pay period, I could move it to the Costco category, and it will sit in the debit account instead of letting the credit card company hold it. And if DH buys gas with the debit card, it doesn’t matter. Yes?
  18. This. The drinking/pot age here is 19. It’s important to me that DS18.94 knows the laws around buying alcohol and what the big picture is if he shares that with a friend who is not yet 19. And if that friend then drives intoxicated. And kills someone or themselves.
  19. Canadian Prairies - It’s remained above freezing. No snow. It’s lovely! But like Michigan, this is going to bite us in the butt in the not too distant future. So, you don’t want to say out loud how great the weather is. Maybe unusual or surprising….
  20. I would think if it’s medium in the middle, the outside will be quite a lot further along. And it will continue cooking while it rests.
  21. Do you only hear it at night? Is there a part of the eaves squeaking in a breeze? A gate left open? A branch brushing against a window?
  22. I’ve always kept track of cheques, but that is all. I wrote two this fall, and the last one before that was 2019. I just looked at the register, and it starts in 2003. So it’s been at least before that that I’ve made any attempt to balance things. I’m okay, our finances are okay….. let it go if you can….
  23. I completed the survey but struggled with a few. What kind of medical people? But maybe only US-based folks should answer, as recommendations for treatment and vaccination may be different.
