  2. We live in an apartment and id LOVE a school school, Shoot at this point id love a closet to put school stuff in!! :glare: We are working on our credit to buy a house and thats a priority for us. A School Room. It could be the basement, the extra bedroom, dining, we dont care. Just a school room!
  3. schwans will deliver food and takes cash, check, credit and food stamps. Some of their food isnt a good deal, but most of it is.
  4. We use to use MUS, but it just wasnt working for us. Heres how we did it. We used MUS Primer. We didnt use the drill sheets. Theres enough drilling IMO. You can get them from their website. Normally as far as schedule we'd focus on 1 "chapter" a week. I didnt push it because she wasnt catching on to what it was saying anyway. We didnt do any tests. We did the worksheets, maybe not every problem, but we did the worksheets. I had her watch the video with me. We ended up both hating Math and only got as far as "Chapter" 17 before i called it quits. MUS is Mastery, we moved on to Saxon which is Spiral and appears to be much easier!
  5. In Newport (near Newport on the levee) are nicer hotels- i cant think of any off hand though. Garfield Inn and Residence Inn (downtown) are nice. Let me talk to my landlord, she use to clean hotels and shed know. I do know Garfield and Residence are good. Garfield is cheapest of them. I think its $100?
  6. oh, ok. Thanks. Maybe Ill start doing that. :)
  7. I know I need to pick up the WTM book (i wonder if 1/2 price might have it or Amazon for the Kindle?) but what is a read aloud? I sort of picked up its a book you read aloud to your children, but is it any book? Is it just to build their vocab/comprehension skills?
  8. http://www.millerpadsandpaper.com/The-Homeschool-Planner-3091.htm Thats one i plan to get. Last year I printed my own but it was a PITButt
  9. If you go to User CP, down towards the bottom on the left is Settings, then edit options, then scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode. Select, then save.
  10. Id LOVE it if one came here. Too pricey though.
  11. I have C start on something she can do on her own while i work with L. Vice Versa.
  12. my exam was covered by my insurance and then i ordered on Zenni. I have so many glasses from them its not funny! I LOVE them! DH has 2 pairs from them. :)
  13. Good Luck. We are trying to get something off our credit (it should have never been on there) so we can get our FICO high enough to get approved. Its a PITButt
  14. another idea: Remember in school when you covered your textbook with a paper grocery bag? Cover the binder with one and then decorate! Have fun!
  15. I was writing in them, but I think we are going to tear them out and re-spine it and then use dry erase on some and write on others.
  16. I used MUS Primer for my 5yr old 1st grader and i tried with my 4yr old K. My 4yr old was very lost. My 5yr old had to drop it after 17 lessons because it just wasnt working. Its a lot of repetition (1A teaches the lesson but youll practice it over and over and over until 1F, then youll start something else on 2A.) Its Mastery not Spiral if that helps. I switched to Saxon. Now, it does work for some people though and they love it! HTH~
  17. Its ok. I apologized and explained that she meant no offense and neither did I. Its hard to read what people mean online. That i hope we are ALL safe. ;)
  18. make a sensory box get pipe cleaners and a strainer coloring play doh sand/rice/shaving cream memory painting beading treasure hunt hangman (you could pick a picture even and have the child guess)
  19. I have a 5yr old who would love a penpal if your little girl is interested. :) She likes barbies, Ponies, Girl Scouts, and Saddle Club on PBS. We are in the US.
  20. I understand that, its just the way you posted it. I dont want others to think they will be shot at or something if they are walking without a buddy, especially downtown. I mean we have homeless weirdos who ask for bus fair, lol, but they wont hurt you. Now where i am in Price Hill, there are groups of people who just stand on the street corner and to me thats SCARY! Im talking about the big groups of people yelling, carrying on and are up to no good and you can tell by looking at them. Has your hubby been here before? Im assuming he has by him saying that. Maybe it was where he was at that made him feel that way. We arent all that bad, I would just stay away from the bad areas!! :grouphug:
  21. well usually a church has a pastor and also a committee. I would go to the pastor and ask how to talk to the people on that committee. get AS MANY concerned parents on this issue as POSSIBLE to go to the committee. In our Methodist church, this is how its done. You go to the committee/leadership team.
  22. I live in Cincinnati and im sorry but i think your hubby is wrong. Downtown is not a bad area. I live in Price Hill and that is NOT a good area. Over The Rhine is NOT a good area, neither is Avondale. I would easily walk around downtown by myself, but NEVER in my own neighborhood. Ive lived here in Cincinnati since birth ;)
