  1. I will look at Treasured Conversations! I think we will stay the course for 3rd grade. We will be using Wayfarer's as well and she has narration assignments all through it.
  2. Which levels of ELTL are you looking at? Since it is partly CM, the grammar starts out very gentle. It Ramos up in level 3 though.
  3. I think my fears are soothed on the grammar. I am now panicking about the writing.
  4. I found the blocks btw! I sent you a message to get your address!
  5. I say do Miquon it's one of those programs that gets overlooked but is so good! I sold it all when my youngest was in K. Now, I'm using just Miqon with my youngest who is finishing K. I love it!
  6. Oh definitely do Miqon! You can even just download the off workbooks if you want to. I may have the HWOT letter lying around here. If I find them, I will message you! The Reading Lesson isn't bad but OPGTR is more thorough. :)
  7. How old are your two that will be doing Writing Strands? I do somewhat worry about that. I have a feeling our co-op will be offering Writing and Rhetoric this next year though for my oldest daughter's age.
  8. Yes! I didn't even know about the memory work work at first! We are doing that now! We love ELTL. It has just been hard to let go of my teaching days! Thank you for freeing me. :)
  9. So our plans have completely changed since I started this thread. :) New plans: History/Science/Bible/Composer Study: Wayfarers Ancients (I will be adding on the SOTW activity guide) Language Arts: ELTL 2/3 SSS 3rd Grade Reading lots of good books and maybe some journaling Math: Singapore 2A/2B/3A (we have switched methods and started behind her ability to work on conceptual things) Art: Home Art Studio 2nd Grade or 1st grade (possibly both) I'm not sure we will do cursive this year. She is not ready for it at this point. We will reassess in August and then again in January 2017.
  10. Anyone here use this long term here yet? I am really loving it so far but have yet to give up doing some grammar worksheets alongside it. I'm really trying to let go and just see how it goes without them. I'm just so wrapped up in this mindset that we need a little of both. I might change my mind when we et to level 3 though. Can anyone soothe my fears on this and tell me that it's okay to let go of those worksheets?? Right now, she is doing GWG level 2 along with ELTL 2.
  11. So I am down to these two options (or just doing SOTW). I bought the Wayfarers guide and really like what I see. We will likely start out with it and go from there. Which one of these options do you consider more doable with a 1st and 3rd grader? I'm really hoping that Wayfarers just clicks with us. I was already using many of her options.
  12. Yeah, I don't see anything against evolution. We are using her full curriculum and will just add in books that cover that aspect.
  13. Thank you! It does! We also use ELTL, so I suppose I don't worry a lot about this. I have kept GWG around because it's so simple for her to do on her own. I guess we shall see how it goes.
  14. May I ask why you think it's not good for two years in a row? We used GWG this year. We also use ELTL but I am truly curious.
  15. I just got our first Wayfarers guide in today. We have been using ELTL 2 for a couple months though. We really enjoy it. I do know that in level 2 it is copywork and narration. I'm not completely sure when she moves to written narrations. Hope someone else can help. There is a Facebook group btw!
  16. Whisper sync now works on the iPad app!!!!
  17. The workbooks are definitely not necessary. We do use the off workbook though so I don't have to write it out. I'm considering ordering the hard copy workbooks next year.
  18. Thank you! We have actually chosen to go with Wayfarer's at this point-unless we find something else. :)
  19. Quick question, can you use immersion reading in the iPad kindle app??
  20. Hi! Our co-op is gearing up for the next year and I am looking into teaching a class (or two). If you were going to teach a class about animals, what resources would you include? I would have one class for 3rd and 4th and another for K-2nd.
  21. Tell me all about it if you have used it. What did you love/hate? Would you do it again? TIA!
  22. This kind of sounds like what I want for science at this point. I love using picture books to teach science! We might just give it a shot. Worst case-we hate it. Best case-we love it. :)
  23. Thank you! This is very helpful. I'm going to look through some more and see if I have everything to try out the samples. SOTW seems like it might be easier for us though. We have enjoyed Adventures this year but my oldest is really wanting to do ancients. I also would like something that doesn't necessarily need me to do history every single day. We just have a lot going on lately.
  24. Thoughts on these programs. They look like they could fit the bill of what I need. I am looking at the Ancients and Life Science to use with my 1st and 3rd grader. They seem scheduled out per week maybe but I'm not certain. It looks like I can just schedule each week as I want as opposed to how we have done with MFW and HOD. Is that correct? What do you think of these programs? I am looking for something fun for my girls. :)
